I like stepmania and i constantly play it but it cannot compare to the original ddr. Some songs on stepmania is so out of sync with the music that most of the time i find myself turning off the speaker because the music messes me up. Stepmania is great and all but ddr is better.

Since you all have computers, why not download Stepmania (DDR Simulator) and then you can have over 900 DDR songs? You can even hook your dance pad up to your PC with a USB converter. Just an idea for those who get tired of paying $40-50 for a few songs. I have heard of people with over 9,000 songs

Hey! This isn't the PC section! If you're going to talk about adaptors and stuff for stepmania, take it to the PC area. This is the Playstation 2 section.

For DJLancer: in reply to your post, u actually can make your own songs by using StepMania (A DDR version for the PC). it works by linking an Mp3 song to a DWI file which u can build and create your moves. btw: Stepmania is freeware, but what u do need to buy is a USB Ps2 adapter to connect the dance pad - abt 15$

ARRRG! I'm out of the loop for a few days and the talk about damn simulators and adaptors keeps going on! GET ANOTHER THREAD!! The section this thread is in is about the PLAYSTATION 2! I started this to get people's opinions on how they feel about the US DDR Extreme, NOT TO PROMOTE SIMULATORS OR GET HELP ON GETTING THEM TO WORK!! THE PC SECTION IS FOR THAT! If you can't post on the PC section, REGISTER!! It's free! Ugh. I'm getting tired of this.

I would. I really would. But there's one problem. My computer isn't compatable with it and I can't find a good DDR emulator to run on it. Everything I've had has been terrible. I can't find Dancing With Intensity to try on my computer. The main site is gone for it. I have no choice but to play the released games. I'm not complaining though. No slow downs to worry about. No upgrades or updates to get. No converter to get. I'm happy with what I got. But if I could get a computer version to work.......there are so many songs I would make for it. But it doesn't seem to be wanting to happen. Doesn't matter anyway. I'd still buy Extreme. I love DDR too much not to. chill out buddy all of us at one time or another has talked about Stepmaina since we all have a computer and were all interested. plus it has to do with Extreme since i'm trying to find it on the net. for download.

Just as a reminder, DDR is pretty dead in Japan.
They're 99% confirmed not to make any more arcade mixes.
Who knows how many more home releases.
They all play GuitarFreaks/Drummania and Pop'n Music over there now.
As for the US, there will be no new arcade releases, since Konami got screwed over by Andamiro in a lawsuit*. There will still be home releases though, since the US still has a robust market for DDR.
And to be on-topic, I think that the Eyetoy is dumb, there's too much latency, and if I wanted to use my hands while dancing on a pad I'd play 3DDX. But that game is lame.
*this isn't 100% confirmed, this is just what I heard from several sources. I'm still looking into it. **Oh wait, I totally forgot. Konami doesn't have an American coin-op division anymore. No more arcade mixes.
