won't they still produce the machine's but not anymore new mixes? i heard something about that from ddrfreak I think. Arcade machines last a long time, so as long as operators can still make money on them, they'll still be in the arcades. If no more new mixes come out, you'll probably see operators putting PCs with Stepmania in the cabs (It's been done a few times already).

as far as i can tell, the release date for ddr extreme on the ps2 is 9/21/'04, ive heard this from numerous sites online. as far as getting bored with the extreme arcade version...im not, i still spend about 10 bucks a week at the arcade(only on ddr, not including other games and drinks) i will probably get the 'rents to let me import the japanese home version and order a import mod chip if the song selection on extreme sucks

www.konami.com/usa/press/ddrextreme081904.htmlHello. Here is the OFFICIAL press release. So far, the only other song that is 100% confirmed is the Legend of Max. Also, an original 10-footer (like Outer Limits) is semi-confirmed. UPDATE: Name is Maximizer. That 65 song number is definitely wrong in the PR. An interview with Jason Enos of Konami revealed there would be more than 70, meaning 71 is the lowest number we could have. UPDATE: I guess we got 70. Jason can't count. A review in Playstation Magizine gave it 7/10. The review oddly gave the default list as 46 (or is it 47?) instead of 44, and said that there were exactly 25 unlocks. Take it with a grain of salt as they already got one number wrong. UPDATE: Guess it was wrong, since there are 70 songs total. 44 default, 26 unlock. Okay, the rest is speculation by me and others. Several of the following songs are assumed to be unlocks, but have not been confirmed in any way. Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (Speed Mix) and Sweet Sweet (Heart) Magic were on an early build of the game, and they are assumed to be unlocks at this point. Songs that are also assumed to be in there: Drop Out (From Nonstop Megamix) Ecstacy (Midnight Blue Mix) Higher (Next Morning Mix) Songs possibly there for challenge possibilities (and would be there in groups of 2): Brilliant 2U Brilliant 2U (K.O.G. G3 Mix) Burnin' the Floor Burnin' the Floor (Blue Fire Mix) Dynamite Rave Dynamite Rave (B4 Za Beat Mix) Look to the Sky OR Look to the Sky (True Color Mix) Look to the Sky (Trance Mix) Matsuri Japan OR Matsuri Japan (J-Summer Mix) Matsuri Japan (From Nonstop Megamix) My Summer Love My Summer Love (Tommy's Smile Mix) Still In My Heart Still In My Heart (Momo Mix) In order of likelihood: B2U (has not had a 60fps US release), Dynamite Rave (has not been released on PS2 in US or with Challenge steps), Burnin' the Floor and My Summer Love (no US PS2 version so far), and Matsuri Japan (J-Summer Mix is Xbox exclusive at this point). All others were on Max or Max2 in original forms and most appeared on Xbox recently. They probably won't be repeated, but can't be ruled out. Songs left out of Max2 for Ultramix that may return: Candy (Heart) Colors (For Extreme) Gradiusic Cyber Hypnotic Crisis Infinite Prayer Luv to Me (Disco Mix) MGS2 Mission R Quickening Sexy Planet and note that Sexy Planet has an oni mix that will be there if it is: Sexy Planet (From Nonstop Megamix) Also, it is assumed that we will receive the same second extra stage as the Japanese version: Dance Dance Revolution. As said, none of this is confirmed. We will find out in about a month. Any and all of those may be in it. NONE may be in it (although unlikely). NOTE: Updated this. Go to thread in DDR Chit-Chat for more info. Afronova Primeval, Afronova (From Nonstop Megamix), Vanity Angel, and Xenon are removed since screenshots don't show them on the list in their proper alphabetical position. Other things were removed because they were there! Go check out the other thread. Everything else is still up in the air.

It's not too bad. If you already own other mixes, you won't miss much + it comes with songs not on the US arcade version like: "Stupid Barber"!

Is this really going to be the best mix yet? I mean cmon people! The song list has its stong points, but i think they are going to try to concentrate on the eye toy a.k.a "feature". But one you think about it...we have to blame konami! I heard they are trying to please both the hardcore crowd and the softcore croud. I think thats complete bull shit! Konami is going to try to try and make millions off of this game...wich means they will try to please the soft core crowd who likes the domestic songs, not the original komani music. Is the hardcore crowd screwed?!?!?

Again with the stereotyping on this message board.
I enjoy almost every song... and I'm not really sure what you mean by 'softcore' and 'hardcore' players. Do you mean like (I hate to use this word) poseurs as being softcore?

Oh no!! Thats not what i mean at all! To tell you the truth i have never came across a DDR poser. What i meant by the "hardcore" and "softcore" crowds was the softcore crowd usually is the crowd that isnt into DDR that much, but still like it. For example they probably wouldnt have heard of DDRE until it came out on the PS2 something like that- fully unaware of the japanese mixes. The hardcore crowds usually are fully aware of the japanese mixes. So if you didnt get it before... I hope you get it now. Sorry for the confusion!

One of the biggest complaints against Extreme AC was the lack of 5th Mix stuff. The arcade mix that this most resembles music-wise is 5th Mix, especially the licenses. Seems like their plan was to fill in the gaps. It even has Mission Mode, a feature from 5th CS.
I think the new game will be great. Really, the only thing wrong with it is the name, and I can live with a game that has a bad name.
If you hate the Eye Toy features and cannot ignore them (I know I will ignore them), better not import DDR Festival when it comes out. KCET put the Eye Toy stuff on there, too. It even has the same interface. The games were probably made in parallel by two teams that had some overlap.

I know of a lot of the Japanese mixes, but I don't concern my life too much with the study of them... I, for one, will not be participating in the Eye Toy feature. I'll be dying try to do anything with The Legend of MaxX... Let's hope Maximizer is good.

Is the hardcore crowd screwed?!?!? 1. The "softcare/casual" crowd is the only way to get new players into the game. If you make a game too hard for beginners, ala DDRMAX, new players are less likely to stick with it, which means declining sales for each successive mix. This is bad business. 2. The "softcore/casual" crowd is orders of magnitude larger than the "hardcore/old school" crowd. Larger market = More sales = More money. This is good business. 3. The "hardcore/OS" crowd is already getting their fix by importing the games from Japan. 4. The "hardcore/OS" crowd will buy whatever gets released stateside, no matter what. It's a guarantted sale, so why cater to them at the expense of new players? 5. Until Pump it Up starts getting home console releases in the US, there's no competition in the dance mat game genre. No competition = no incentive to make the best product. Write Andamiro and demand that PIU get a US console release. 6. The EyeToy features take up so little space on the disc, there's no reason NOT to include them. Plus, from early previews of the game, the EyeToy modes aren't very good, so I doubt they spent time on them at the expense of the rest of the game.

Yes, is some Gamepro and EGM reports I've read about the Eye Toy option, the feature hasn't been praised too highly at this point. Perhaps they're trying to clean it up a bit or something, but I'm sure it's not their main focus.

DDR Festival is the next Japanese mix.
And when you hit the quote button, the ext you're quoting will be between [quote] and [/quote] tags and will look like
Just type whatever you want to say outside the [quote] and [/quote] tags

When you're trying to bold font or italicize (sp?) a word, type the word where "TEXT" is. Sorry about off-topicness.
