Has anyone noticed from playing DDR that their calves are now huge? I have been playing for a while, and my calve muscles are all rock hard and bulgy. I am female, so it looks kind of weird. I wanna hear some general feedback on this.

I have the same problem but I've always had big calves. I've seen a pretty decent reduction (About an inch) by exercising early in the morning before I eat. My brother used to play football and he told me that when you exercise on an empty stomach you maximize fat burning but you also burn a little bit of muscle in the area you're working the hardest which in the case of DDR is your calves. I'm not an expert and if anyone knows anything else definitely take their advice over mine, but that's what's worked for me.

Working out on an empty stomach is bad, because of the muscle it burns. If you only goal is to lose weight and you don't really care about muscle then go right ahead. Also there is no such thing as spot reduction for either fat or muscle.

attempting to reduce muscle mass is a bad idea - it will slow your metabolism. I was born with ungodly huge calves for a girl(even when I was skinny), they have shrunk in loosing weight but still they are big. I used to hate it, now I embrace them.
Think about it, now a days people are getting calf implants to have what we have. Be proud!

I have huge calves also. Mine use to be huge because they were flabby but now they are huge because of muscle. But now at least its muscle and not flab. Still they do bug my sometimes when I wear shorts.

I have huge calves partially because muscley legs have a history in our family, but also thanks to DDR. I like my calves

Personally, I wouldn't mind trading huge calves for a small A$$...tee hee. But yeah, mine have just become more defined, not bigger...

You could always try some supplemental yoga or maybe even Pilates to try to make the muscles more long and lean rather than bulky.

Well... proper stretching will do away with larger muscles and help create quick, lean legs...

Yeah, my calves were always big, but now they are turning from fat to muscle. I don't really like it still, but i don't care because I don't wear shorts or skirts anyway.

mine are about average, but they are more muscular than anything. i've always had strong calves from racing bmx, running, playing softball, and now waitressing and playing ddr.

If you've seen my pics in the before and after... yep, mine are friggin huge, or as someone else put it.. MASSIVE.
From what I've seen on those weight loss shows, long marathon distance running might help with that. I haven't tried it myself though, lol.

Hmm. I have huge calves and I'm pretty sure I always will. I like them though. They haven't gone completely to muscle yet, but when I exercise, I can feel it there. It won't be long before I've got nothing but DDR calves left.
I always though that having really muscley legs looked good, even on girls. I knew this girl who was a gymnast and her legs were freakin Huge with muscles. To me, she always looked like a goddess because of that. I don't know why I thought that.

I've just read that each kilogram (2.4lb?) of muscle burns 100cal a day, even if you're doing nothing. Good news for those with huge calves XD It's not much, but it's something extra to think about.

Large calves really aren't that bad, except for being totally out of proportion, which I've had to deal with all my life. No matter how big they get, with proper stretching they can still be very quick.
I'm not sure to whom I'm posting to, but yes. That is my post.
