My calves were really hard even before I started doing DDR from running and walking. I haven't really noticed them getting bigger. But then I need to be very careful about stretching, or my knees will protest the next day. But I've noticed that different songs will hit the legs differently. Some will hit the thighs more and some will hit the calves more. And it depends on how much you've danced to a song at the current level. I try to constantly progress, and not dance as much to songs that stress the calves more than the thighs.

My calves have got a little bigger, but since I play DDR so much it can't be a bad thing.

I dunno if upper leg muscle increase is good or bad, but it sure does make tight jeans look bad on me.

That's Ric Flair, and he's ancient (he's been in pro wrestling since 1972). He's gotta be approaching 60 years old at this point. It gets really hard to maintain muscle tone a that age (see: Schwarzenegger, Hulk Hogan, etc).
The one on the left looks more like Kurt Angle than The Rock to me, but I haven't watched wrestling in about 10 years, so it could be anybody...

By now I'm noticing the calves getting bigger. Looks like it's the faster footwork that's getting me. It wasn't like that while I was still slower. I notice the burn in my calves as I'm dancing and less of a burn in my thighs.

My calves haven't grown much since I started playing. They are very bulgy and the muscle is always showing, but I played soccer for about 9 years, that might have something to do with it too. Also, my family is known for having "chicken legs". My dad and I both have very thin legs, even though they look big because of the muscle.

My wife was watching me play the other day and started laughing cuz my calfs looked like they should be on a ninja turtle doll... Haaaaaaa. I never had so much reading on internet. I'm born with big calves. Mine are not ninja turtle type. They're big but sac-shaped, no protruding muscles. I'm the least sporty person with huge calves. I can't run fast, can't jump high, can't catch a ball, can't hit a ball with a racket of any kind. Through out my school life, there's always somebody mistaken me as sport star because of the size of my calves, then later on find out I'm nobody. It embarrassed me a lot. Now I'm OK. I just need to wear long skirt or short shorts. Either hide it or expose most of my legs. Avoid all knee-high skirts. Because they 'emphasizing' my enormous calves.

Well, you weren't using that muscle at all for several weeks, so it would make sense that it would atrophy.

Ok, we all talk about legs here, hypertrophic or atrophic. Why a member start asking for picture of lady's legs?
Common sense please. If you don't think this is a question you'll ask your neighbor, don't post it here.
Am I right, Abrannan?

I've always been big, so the calf muscles are a nice change for me. I'm 6'5 and weighed in at 334, last time I checked. I play StepMania and ITG all the time, and it's so much fun! I can do most songs on Heavy/Hard and really enjoy the lifestyle that I've based around my dance game addiction.
