I would like to start with commiting my goal... of losing 20 pounds by the beginning of the next school year (about 8 months), drinking more water daily, and exercising for three days a week for 1 hour. Ok, it's in writing... and I have witnesses to keep me accountable! I think that my commitment is in writing will help me stay commited!

Thanks for the advice! ^-^ I just recieved my DDRmax2 game and a redoctane ignition pad for christmas, and I can't stop dancing! It is so much fun! ;D I know I have played for at least a solid block of and hour and I have completed all the lessons and have advaced to light mode in my first day. I was so suprised at how fast I am learning! Now I know why everyone says DDR is such a workout, at the end of 35 min I was sweating hard and I was starting to get tired, but I didn't even notice until I stoped after my first song in the game mode to get my rating. I think this will really get me up to excercise! ;D

Well, after completely forgetting about my health and fitness as I stressed over my first semester finals, i've decided to get back on track. My goal is to lose about 20 or 25 pounds by June. Sadly my DDR pad is still up at college, but I got some new running shoes for Christmas that I plan to start putting to use tomorrow. I signed up for a martial arts course next semester, so hopefully that, walking, and DDR can help me get into shape. I'm also going to try and be more active on these forums, I read just about everyday, perhaps i'll start posting occasionally.

hey i've been reading these boards for awhile. been playing ddr for awhile as well. i had stopped playing for close to 2 years (i only have the ps1 versions) but i started playing again a few weeks ago and i'm back in trick mode. i have noticed a drastic change in energy and i've already dropped a few hard to lose pounds by playing again. i am setting a goal to lose 15 lbs by july. it's totally doable, and i'm totally in the right weight range, but i have a little more to go. i dropped most of my mass two years ago playing ddr, and i think i can get the rest off by working at it again. i had been playing with my old soft pad but realized my accuracy was not so good because of the pad moving around on my wood floor, so after working a night shift (i wait tables at applebee's) i bought the redoctane ignition pad and finally tried it out tonight. my accuracy was so much better than before and my scores were much higher. i've been playing mostly on trick mode, but i plan on moving up to maniac within a week or so. i've completely cut soda out of my diet, and have eliminated a lot of fried foods and fattening junk. so far so good. i think this thread is a good idea. hopefully i'll keep everyone updated.

Well it seems that mostly everyone either wants a red octane ignition pad, will be getting one, or has one! I love mine, it is so great! And I am glad everyone seems to like theirs too! Has anyone made any progress on their goals yet? I really don't know about my progress yet...I am still learning DDR and am only on Light Mode. But I hope to work at advancing to Standard Mode, well...u have to take one step at a time! Although since Christmas (about two or three days ago) I have played for 30-35 minutes on light mode. I hope I can keep it up! I wish everyone good luck with achieving their goals!

Hey Everybody. My Goal is to looe 22 pounds (to get down to 135) by March 30th, maybe even by March 10 (me and my b/f's 2 year ann) if it's doable.
I'm going to do DDRU2 for at least 1 hour a day. I'm also going to try to make to to the gym 3 times a week for 30-45mins.
I use to weigh about 200 pounds, so I have come a long way, and I think DDR will help me alot with the rest.

I would like to lose 10 or 15 pounds. I'm in my weight range, but my mom and I have a deal that involves me getting by braces off in four months, and being skinnier than she is by that time. And since she's been on a diet for months, and is only four pounds heavier than me now, that's gonna be tough.
I've only just started DDR-ing, but I've discovered something. Thurs-I was able to get on for 1 hour Fri-I was able to get on for 3 hours (that was a bit excessive, thinks I) Sat-TV was hogged Sun-TV was hogged
I can't belive I won't be able to get on on weekends. Ah well, g2g, promised to clean my room. Er, bed rather since I've got the top bunk.

My goal's another 10, 15 pounds ... hoping for 2 pounds a week, though that might be difficult for a while, now that I relaxed on my eating over Christmas and am now used to eating more Anyway, after another 10-15 pounds I'll see where I'm at. I'm not actually that overweight, but I really put on weight in my face, so I look a lot more overweight than I am at first glance ... if that makes sense ... Here's to hoping another 10-15 pounds slims out my face ;D Unfortunately I gained a couple pounds over Christmas, but I'm buying DDR extreme next time I stop by Gamestop so that'll help me along I really dislike the layout, but I've played it at friends' and I love the songs, so that should really help me get back into my healthy pattern I was keeping up before Christmas ... Good luck everybody! It's so motivating to know we're all in this together. I love these forums.

I dont eat Breakfest, or Lunch, but I snack alot at Home I guess I need to quit Drinking so Many Drinks. Is thier Any good exercise Machines. Well, you should probablly start by eating breakfast and lunch. some nice balanced food at that too. What you eat in the morning can set your whole day up weight wise. So if you only snack and eat something unhealthy, its going to set you up for unhealthiness -- weight gain, or at least certainly not weight loss. Also the drinking. Its its alcohol that has LOTS of stuff that will make you gain weight. But again, it all depends on what else you eat during the day. Its its soda, switch to diet. And be sure to not forget water. Water is definitely a must; unless you want to become dehydrated and die. Now for ideas, if you really want to loose weight eating healthy is a must. You can get more ideas from others here, but I personally would suggest you go out and get the South Beach diet book. It explains... SOOOO much and will set you up with a whole new perspective on food and weights etc. I read the book and it was like my shift on things totally changed. The Diet really works if you stick through it and it involves eating three nice meals and even allows for snacks and deserts! yummy!

I dont know Why I wiegh this much I dont eat Breakfest, or Lunch, but I snack alot at Home I guess I need to quit Drinking so Many Drinks. I think you just nailed exactly why you've gained weight. Let's take it in order: "I don't eat Breakfast or Lunch" - Your body needs a constant influx or ready calories to process. If it doesn't get an intake, it goes into survival mode, where it works hard to store calories away for the future (food is scarce now, what will happen when it's gone?). On top of this, it means your large meal is dinner, which doesn't give your body as much time to process those calories and use them before you go into a resting state. Try a good sized breakfast (proteins, please, not sugars), a good sized lunch, and a small dinner. It will make a difference. "I snack a lot at home" - I'm goin gto guess that you're probably snacking on traditional snack food, chips, candy, pretzels, that sort of thing. Mostly empty calories, sugars that will make your blood sugar levels spike and trough. Eat meals, eat things that will stay with you, proteins and fiber. "Drinking so many drinks" - Again, unless you're sloely drinking hard liquor, you're taking in a lot of empty calories. It's not quite as bad as soda (Rum and Coke, notwithstanding), but it's not good for you.
