My goal for weight loss is to get to the goal marker on my siggy by the end of this school year! I also would like to tone up my arms but that's put on hold for a while because I broke my arm while rollerblading about 1month ago and I can expect to have a cast on for another 3 months. Fun huh?

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I'm 15 and about 5'6". I've been playing DDR off and on for... at least a year, but I haven't been able to do it a lot until just recently until I got my own copy of the game for Christmas. I didn't hook it up until the Friday before last, because we had family over, and then I just hadn't bothered to until that Friday. Last Sunday, I weighed 181 lbs. I've been fluctuating around that weight for a while now, which is good since I've been gaining a lot of muscle from tae kwon do, though I did gain about 10 lbs when I first started it. Anyway, through playing DDR for at least an hour a day (and about three hours that first weekend), and trying to eat a balanced diet, rather than eating whatever I want, whenever I want, I've lost 4.5 lbs just in my first week. Also, my jeans weigh about 1 lb. Unfortunately, the weight I lost is probably mostly water weight. I've been replacing soda (mostly diet soda, but still not that great for you) with water, and have been trying to drink between 2 and 3 32-ounce bottles a day. I read that drinking enough water a day will actually help you lose water weight, since your body no longer holds onto it, thinking it's your last bit of water. So I'm hoping to get down to 130 lbs, but really, 160 would be a lot better than 181. Plus, I'm worried that to get to 130 lbs, I'd be losing muscle. I've never actually kept to a diet before; I keep telling myself, "I'm going to start eating right, I'm going to start jogging with the dog, rather than walking, etc." but it never works. So I'm really hoping that I don't get bored of DDR, and at least keep off the weight I lose. I'm planning on buying DDR Extreme once I get to 160 lbs, as a reward. It's a much better reward than celebrating with food. So, to sum up, my goals are as follows: Lose another 35-45 lbs by the end of the year, Start jogging with the dog to complement DDR workouts (Once the snow melts, at least...) Eat a balanced diet (Stupid veggies, always mocking me with their health benefits but mediocre tastes ) Stay off sodas entirely, except for special occasions. Continue playing DDR (Though not necessarily for 12 hours a week, as I did this past week...) By the way, does anyone know good recipes to sort of "cheat" your vegetables. What I mean is, recipes that have your daily amount of vegetables in them, and taste good too (aside from salads). For example, a great way to get fruit in is a fruit smoothie, with a couple types of fruit and a bit of orange juice. Too bad veggie smoothies would taste horrible...

Ok, you know it's always bad when you have to admit you havn't been as good as you should be. I have to admit, I have gained 2.5 pounds these last 2 weeks. My only comfort is it is becasue I had my wisdom teeth taken out. (Talk about long lasting extreme pain!) It has now only a dull ache but has kept me eating from bordom (ice cream, popsicles, smoothies), and not exersising becasue I had to stay in bed. But now that the experience is behind me, and it has been a week (today) from the procedure, I hope to get back on track! I am trying to limit my food intake, and constantly asking myself if I am really hungry or just eating becuse I am bored. I have done well today with drinking water and I hope to improve steadily and get back on track! Thanks everyone for hear'n me out!

I'm kind of split into three goals right now.
Goal #1: Make the shirt I got at the Freddy vs Jason premiere/camp fit well again, if not better than it originally did. The goal is to do this by the end of May.
Goal #2: Drop from ~235 (clothed) to under 200 (also clothed) by next January The more I research, the more it seems like this could be possible by July, but one year was the original uninformed goal.
Goal #3: Ultimately, I'd like to weigh no more than 165. This is a two year goal. If any safe and sane way appears to achieve it in less time, then I certainly won't dally either.
I have an appointment to see the doctor in 11 days in order to get some professional advice and a general checkup. That will influence the method and timeline of these goals quite a bit. I want to do this in the healthiest way possible moreso than the method that gets rid of the pounds the fastest.

I hate school food and I am just not hungry. This is a bad idea. Check some of the other threads for what I mean in regards to not eating breakfast or lunch. You're going to send your body into a starvation mode where your metabolism will slow down, and your body will sacrifice muscle instead of fat because it thinks there is a shortage of food.

Saturday is here! YAY! I have improved so much at working towards my goal! I have been drinking more water this week, and trying to watch what I eat. Anyway, I worked out on DDR for 15min yesterday and 15min. today since I have to work back up to thirty again after my surgery. I am also very proud to say that I lost my first pound!!! ;D I know it dons't sound like much but I think it is a good way to start.

I've been overweight since I was around 10. I've never liked it but I've also never really tried to do anything about it. Well, in August I had a doctor's appointment and found out I had hit 300lbs. That scared me enough to start losing weight. I got down to 265 mid January, and about a week ago I bought a DDR pad and have been playing a ton since then. I'm 255 right now. I don't have any specific weight goal, just to feel healthy and energetic and be in good shape.

I don't have any specific weight goal, just to feel healthy and energetic and be in good shape. And that's the best goal in the world. Not to be tied to an arbitrary number on a scale or body fat measuring device. Just to make sure you're taking care of yourself, and that you're happy with yourself. Kudos to you.

I just got DDR about 3 weeks ago for my Xbox and I love it so does my 2 year old daughter in fact now I put her in our hiking back pack and she dances with me since she throws a fit if she can't dance with me. I had a C-section against my will (never get one unless you are dying) and have had a heck of a time losing it. I hope this works I think it is but I dont' like to weigh myself cause then I just get frustrated. But I want to lose about 80 pounds and this should be it I hope and I should know I have tried a lot to get it off. I need all the support I can get. YunieBunny

Like many, I'm new here, give or take a few days. I've been playing since my birthday in November, but I haven't lost any weight until January (holidays ) Now I cut out a lot of my snacking, sugar and bad carbs. I've lost a lot of weight in the first few weeks, but it seems I've either hit a plateau, or am slowing down. I would like to get down to 150-mid 140's. I don't want to be thin so much as I want to be fit in time for college. Hopefully I will install healthy eating habits by then, and not gain the imfamous freshman 15.

Hello everyone:
I'm brand spanking new at DDR and am loving it. I'm 5'2" and currently weigh between 190-200 lbs. My goal is to lose 50-70 lbs total, but i want to lose 20 lbs by the end of March 2005. I've been dancing 3 times a week for about a 90 min session per day. I have a great roommate who helps me stick to my promises, but i'm looking for support online as well!
