Ugh. I'd been doing well and lost some weight, and it all came back plus a little, because my schedule got too busy and I didn't make time to exercise. I'm ready to give up. My boyfriend saw me after a long absense and said that I had lost weight, and my mother did too, but I'm still 68 kg (i think that's around 150 lbs) right now getting through college is the most important thing, and the weight is definitely second. but i'm tired, and fed up. i've been giving into temptations like sweets and whatnot, and I'm always tired. i'd like to know what motavates you to lose weight, maybe i'll get an idea.

Vanity, but not just in a looks way. I challenged myself. It's going to take bodily injury or success before I give up.
Also trying to be a musician plays into it too. I'd rather have a better image to put forward than "chubby guy writing songs in his closet."

Yes, musician. Rock? What genre? I'm a classically trained pianist...I play a lot of other stuff too though, but i'm dabbling in the realms of jazz and rock, especially since I aquired an electric guitar...

My motivation is just being able to move my body . . . I've loved to dance since I was a little kid, but hadn't discovered I actually had any talent for it until I was 18 and in college. I took a enough dance classes to graduate with a minor in dance, but some other circumstances in my life caused me to gain lots of weight (70 lbs ). Basically, dance is the only kind of exercise I will stick to with any kind of regularity. My increased energy and being able to do things I couldn't do before helps me keep going; but if I didn't enjoy DDR, I wouldn't keep doing it. I think the key to having motivation to do something as hard as losing weight is to find something you like. That's it. When the pounds start melting off, that's reinforcement for your personal motivation to keep going. But until you hit that point where you can start to see and feel the benefits, you have to have something else to keep you going. So find something that *you* like to do and make time for yourself to do it. School is definitely very important, but so is taking care of yourself. Even 15 minutes a day will bring some small benefits. UJKitten

I find it's a lot easier to stay motivated when you focus on eating healthy, not losing weight. Thats one of the main things that keeps me going... I started doing this for my health in the first place (working full time at Wendy's and all) but the weight loss is a definate bonus

My motivation is for myself mostly. But I think it would be cool if guys were jelous of me. (like if some dudes girl was checking me out and he comes over and beats me into a bloody pulp) Well not that bad but you get the point.

Well, um, kind of industrial rock. Of a sort. I started with drums and percussion in the school band around '89. Picked up an electric guitar in '97. Added a bass in 2002 and a keytar just last summer.

what keeps me motivated is the clothes i have collecting dust in the closet that i might be able to wear if i just lose inches. that and the fact that my weight is absolutely killing my back.

That's really true too. All those clothes from highschool that I said "yeah I'll wear that when I'm a 32 inch waist again...like that'll happen. But I am down from a 38 to a 36 (and comfortably! whoo!

I'm motivated 'cause I really should weigh a little less since I'm type 1 diabetic.
I'm also motivated because my sister and I are losing weight together now so its nice to have someone to compete with.

I'm motivated by an obsession to dancing and a liking for fresh foods.

What keeps me Motivated? My Guitar and rocking out in front of my friends, all the while being healthy and fit. I love that feeling

It just seems like too much effort somedays, between school and everything else.
Oh well, I got a job for the summer finally, and i'll be on my feet for most of it, so that's a good thing. Get me moving agian.

It just seems like too much effort somedays, between school and everything else. Oh well, I got a job for the summer finally, and i'll be on my feet for most of it, so that's a good thing. Get me moving agian. The best motivation is visual. I had a stand up job for over three years and ended up gaining almost 100 lbs on top of already being over weight. So, don't wait until you have a summer job. Think about how you want to look this summer with or without a job. The more you put it off, the more you'll have to lose Have you ever had a friend that had a Gym membership and he/she never went? they kept on saying " Oh, I'll go tomorrow or next week", but then it never comes 'round? Get motivated, whether the motivation is from a certain size of clothes, hotties that you might be working with at your summer job or just being healthy and hot for yourself.. Get on track now before you get too frustrated ..

Well, i've never been happy with the way I look, so most of my motivation is finally being happy to look in the mirror. I'm also not in the best shape, and i'd like to fix that.
One final source of motivation is my girlfriend, she's the most beatiful girl in the world (no offense to any of you ladies on the board), and I want to look better for her too.

My motivation is looking at myself in the mirror and pictures and being disgusted with how I look. And I am just disgusted that I feel tired ALL the time and feel I need to get a grip on my health.
