I am doing a report on weight loss through DDR vs weight loss through a diet. Please, give me your opinion on what you believe about these subjects. Think of after a diet, people usually gain the weight back. (For example). Thanks

Hey Jeffery Well... everywhere you look it is proven that it is not diet but exercise that creates a real change. You can diet all you want but that is not doing anything but making you thinner.. and yea..that is great...but when you combine it with exercise you are building muscles that will burn calories while you are just sitting there!! It is a total lifestyle change... you can not have sucess in weight loss with diet alone... i dieted and lost 40lbs and gained back 50!! i had more to say...but lost my train of thought...

The best method of course is diet coupled with exercise. I lost a good deal of weight on Atkins, but hit a really solid plateau for a very long time. It wasn't until I started doing 600-640 calories a night on DDR that the weight loss started up again. It is possible to lose weight on a diet alone; it seems that Atkins and South Beach allow for that to an extent. However, both of these diets will plateau eventually, and exercise seems to be the only way to lose any more. The real idea is that you have to burn more calories than you intake, including "at rest" metabolization. If you eat 2000 calories a day, and you burn 75 an hour at rest (totally made up numbers), then you're going to gain weight, net gain of 200 calories per day. Now if you burn 600 during exercise, then you're going to lose weight naturally. Decrease food intake and you lose weight faster. Increase muscle mass (weight training) and your at-rest rate of metabolization will increase, making you also lose weight faster. It's all relative. Hikaru

When I started to make my lifestyle changes I first started DDR and then 2 weeks later joined Weight Watchers.
While on Weight Watchers I learned that my eating habits were pretty closly aligned with theirs. Of course I did make some minor modifications...
But my problem was lack of movement the last 10 years. I would go and sit in front of a computer at work... then drive home and do the same or sit in front of the TV.
So for myself, it is all about DDR and very little about diet.
I hope this helps you out in some way.

I have been the same way for like 5 years, work my butt off, come home and be lazy. Now i play DDR when I get home to give me some cardio.

Quad,
I dont know if it is possible for you, it all depends on the person, but I found that if I do most of my playing in the morning right when I wake up, I am much more alert through the entire day.
Plus I noticed if I come home and play, I can only play for half - quarter of the time.
I dont know what it is, but I can play almost non stop first thing in the morning and my day is much more productive.
I code all day long and the last month my work output has doubled because I seem to be more focused.
So not only am I getting my confidence from wearing pants 4 inches smaller than I was 2 months ago...but my bosses are raining praise on me and that was a confidence booster as well.
I am realistic and I know I will still have my bad and off days.... but I am starting to have more good than bad now.

I have to wake up at 4:50am and my wife is still sleeping so no go on DDR in the morning, but my job is cardio/lifting heavy weights all day anyways from 6am-2:30 every day, I work in a paint factory, I am the guy who hand stacks the 5 gallon buckets of paint onto pallets all day long. So i do DDR when I get home.. Before I got married like 3 years ago I used to go to the gym at 4:30 am and do weight lifting, jogging, cardiobikes and yes, it is good to get your juices flowing and start your metabolism by some exercise in the morning, helped me take quite a fewpounds off (until I got married and got lazy)

I just love it when those infomercials come on TV.. God you can really lose 20lbs in like 3 days? Come one, get real.. But there are people out there who for some reason think it's possible.. I don't consider myself to be on a diet because when you do think in that way, you eat and eat and eat because you f33l deprived.. DDR is a great help.. when ever I'm f33ling bored or hungry, I hop my happy booty on there and do about an hour and a half ( that was before my stupid human trick). I can't wait to get this cast off

I would rather lose weight slowly and keep it off than to lose it fast and gain it back

I think thats how we all started. The weight loss part kind of came with it. I don't think any of us went, "Hey I need to lose some weight. Let me spend 70 bucks for a game that helps you lose weight that I wont have any fun playing." lol

Yeah, but that's no different than any other aspect of life. All you can do is have a, "I don't give a f$$k bout you or what you thinking, this is for me" attitude and go and do it..
Plus just because they are skinny doesn't mean they are better than you at DDR, you may just kick some booty.
