hello all!! i have a dad sory to tell about my time with DDR.... this story is about speed mods and how fast the songs arrows go. this could happen to you too....

so when i 1st strated playing DDR i wasn't using speed mods (i didn't know how) then i started using 1.5 and solo. when i got to heavy i started X2. and solo, i wanted all my songs to be as fast as Max 300 i can read it better. then when i went to play max 300 it was to slow and so was all other max songs sukura and paranoia surv. now i have to play them on 1.5 just to read it. this doesn't hurt me that bad, but what if we get Max. (period) in the US should they ever make a new DDR, i can't read the last 15 sec. of that song on X1 all to well because it is at 600 bpm. and on 1.5 it would be 850 bpm.... that is way to fast....

should i start over and lern how to play with no mods other then solo??? what do you guys think???

Yes, you should. You are missing the true challenge of songs like Bag, which at 5x, like you play it, really only rate about a 7 foot rating. The difficulty of bag is that you have to be very aware of little changes in the distance between arrows, which have a large effect on when the step appears.

Then you should re-learn math, 600bpm with a 1.5x modifier is the equivalent to a 900bpm song, not 850. ;D

my bad that was a stupid thing i said about the 850 and not 900 i am in class typing fast and didn't have time to think about all the stuff i was typing sorry for the loss of math for a sec. had i seen that i was wrong i would have said something. other then that it looks like i am going back to light mode 5-6 footers and doing it all over again.... looks like fun....

But seriously, you should spend more time in class studying and less time here posting. Post from home in the evenings, or from study hall (If you have one). It's not like these boards are a firestorm of activity and if you don't visit every two hours you'll miss some important conversation. Your education is important, and should be treated that way.

I somewhat disagree with this. Bag is VERY hard to PA, even at 5x. I agree that it greatly lowers the difficulty to give it a 5x modifier, but it definitely isn't a 7.

Bag would probably be a pretty tough 8 with X5... the speed mod I used to pass it...

I had been playing Solo and X2 most of my Heavy DDR career, but just in the past month or two I have been switching to 1.5X and normal... although I play Dark to improve my PA a lot. I still can't do 1X.

I am working on slowing down Bag to X3 but i lost very quick, so i will try and try again, other will be o.k. to have mods just because there is nothing great about having them on X1. got to love solo, and dark is something i don't get, and i am thinking about making my songs all
X1.5 reverse heavy from now on because of ext. stage is set that way, i should learn the songs the way i will "have" to play them

I dunno, I passed it without too much difficulty at 3x the first time I tried it. Given my skill level, it's at least an 8 at that modifier.

when on my old computer with DWI I played bag on 2x and got a C or D probly a D i cant remember, but i could A it with x3

You know, once you get the rhythm of bag and do it twice or so, it's not hard at all on 1x, but a lot of people seem to still rely on the arrows lining up more rather than the beat more.

The rhythm for Bag isn't too difficult, it's just that there's more notes than people give credit, so it's hard memorizing when exactly each of the rhythms for the difference set takes place?

well i played max unitey at my friends house.... the slow part i finaly did without a speed mod on it. i think i am getting better at reading slow songs. Sakura is still kicking my ass becasue of its slow down. when i can pass Bag on X1.0 mod. i will be good enough to read the chose run parts of Max 300. and The Legend of Max

I play it on StepMania, and I can register the arrows at 1.5x speed mod. 5x would be wayyyy too fast for me.

That all depends on your simfiles. If they're properly ripped and synched, then there's no problem.

Which highlghts how playing at anything other than 1x is making the game easier for a lot of songs. It's not cheating, but it's also not the same accomplishment.
