also using 1x makes lots of songs easier too. this arguement will never be won. its retarded. end.

i never quite understood the mods, what do they do, cut the amount of arrows down? i usually just play 1x.....never really screwed around with the mods either.

speed mods just make the arrows scroll at a faster rate. They still hit the bar at the exact same time as if you were doing 1x speed. On songs with slow bpm's it can greatly space the arrows out, making them easier to read. I figure that either way you are doing the song, so no mater what the speed, if you are doing the song, good for you! It is good practice however. I remember, for example, that doing dam dariam on 1.5x allowed me to learn the steps, and now I can do them on just the 1x speed just fine. I do prefer it on 1.5x reguardless of the fact.

to tell the true I like the songs on X2 speed just becasue it "looks" better.. the only song that should be left on X1 and still look "good" is Bag. that is why it is a 10-footer song. Others i still like to play on X1.5 or X2 check out some of the cool mods of "In the groove".... they are fun...
