Daniel I applaud your efforts! You are doing something so good for yourself. You have the advantage of also being young (and cute!). I've lost 10 lbs since Christmas playing ddr and experts say slow and steady is the best. I have 30 lbs to go but hope to achieve that by summer. I would also encourage you to warm up with easier songs for at least 5 min. and stretch after playing to keep your muscles limber. Good luck and let's keep in touch. (This is also my first post.)

well, thank you cibi ^_^. believe me i will keep in touch! anyway, ive started myself at a strict diet of 1 hard boiled egg a meal served any way i like. (salad, sandwich, with toast, plain, ect...) drinking only water and tea with artificial sweetener. my dad who is diabetic. told me to think like a diabetic in what i eat (i like the sweet stuff) so i will stick to fruits and other things to keep my sweet tooth in line. and i had this great idea. instead of doing nothing while i wait for my DDR stuff to get here, i would put about an hour of dance music on CD and work cardio to that. great idea huh? ^_^ in any event i will be working my butt off trying to shed these pounds, and i'm glad i found this forum before i started. its great to have support from people like me

Way to go on getting all the goodies! I've only had my pad a few weeks and I've already bought two more games and REALLY want the hard pad...hehe....Best of luck! Oh, I have to ask this...you're eating more than 3 eggs a day aren't you?? I've got a MAJOR sweet tooth as well and have learned that if I don't give myself just a tiny bit of what I'm craving that I'll just go crazy and blow everything ;D

Good luck, Daniel! This is a great place to get advice and support.
Eating like a diabetic seems very sensible to me. Keep us posted!

ive started on this whole cardio thing and i stepped on the scale and i couldnt believe it. i lost 2 lbs just today! 0_0 (i weigh in the nude so theres no confusion about the weight of clothes, shoes, ect...) i weigh 328 now and i hope to keep losing, and losing even more when my pads and game come in! and yes, i eat only one boiled egg a day, along with other things. like this morning i had a hard boiled egg a piece of toast and a peice of low-fat sausage, low-fat cottage cheese and a banana. i dont ONLY have a hard boiled egg every meal, but i do make it the main coarse. well, ive got to work out some more so i'll see you around. Peace, Love and Hair grease!

Hi Daniel!
Don't forget to eat some nuts once in a while. I eat 1/4 cup of almonds a day but you could substitute peanuts, cashews, etc. They give you protein, fiber, and carbs--all good for you. And try to get at leat 2 glasses of skim milk in daily. Milk (2-3 servings a day) has been shown to help people lose fat. As you are a guy I would suggest you eat 1/3 cup of nuts daily as a snack. See if this will help you between meals. cibi

Good luck with your diet. I started at the beginning of the month with DDR, and my calves are seriously rock hard now....its kinda funny. Anyways, I'm a 250 pound girl. 6 feet tall, so i dont look like i carry the weight. but i need to lose some of it.

Awesome news, hope you keep shedding those lbs. (at a healthy rate at least) It's kinda good to know I'm no the only one that weighs in the nude either, was thinking I was the only one that did that.

It's really great to see that there is so much support here.
I, too, am in a situation where I'm here to lose some poundage. I've got about 80 or so to lose. Maybe more. Not sure yet.
I've made some major adjustments to my diet and already have see some results. Haven't bought a scale yet but that's one of the next things on the list.
I went strictly vegetarian/vegan. No dairy or meats. It's working really well, as I am able to find a lot of soy-based products that really taste good.
I would probably be interested in setting up some kind of work-out on Live if you've all got it. Something regular on a weeknight or something. Not sure yet since I don't have my pads (in the mail). It's wild how many people are getting this at the same time - all with similar goals.
Anyways.. I'll be around--hope to see you all around, too!

Check the Xbox board here, we've got a few people who already schedule fairly regular workouts, I'm sure you could join in.

I'm just getting into this message board and exploring it when I have the time to. It's good to know that people have LIVE setup for this reason. Everyone needs a work-out partner!!

wel, not much to update on as of now. i got my pads in today. (SCORE!) ive been playing DDRMAX2 all day and ive been sweating like a.....well you get the point. my hair was soaked, as with my sleeveless shirt, my headband and my wristbands. i absolutely know i will lose weght on this. i need to go down and weigh myself at the grocery store. the one i have doesnt work. i only have a Playstation 2, so i cant work out on LIVE . i used to have an Xbox but i traded it in (along with a bunch of games) for a Slim PS2. the only trouble i'm having with the pads is, they slide alot, and i'm having a hard time finding my "center" without looking at the pad, as there are no defining textures or anything that tell you youre off center. do you guys have any suggestions for that? i'm dissapointed because i'm getting Cs when i should get As or Bs on a song. thanks in advance! tired as hell but already addicted, ---Daniel

First piece of advice, mod the pads with a sheet of plywood and some heavy vinyl floor covering. Add a few pieces of cardboard under each of the arrows to give you some tactile feedback where the arrows are.

grrr.... i have some bad news. the scale at the grocery store is innacurate....way innacurate, and thats what ive been primarily been using to weigh myself. the machine stops in between 328-330. thats as far as it goes (how's that for an insult?)well, anyway, i'll need to go see how much i REALLY weigh when i get an analog scale (what fun -_-) i'm not completely discouraged, just a lil dissapointed.i can tell that i'm losing fat if anything, i can wear a pair of pants i havnt been able to wear for 1 1/2 years. and those sweat pants i had to take out the drawstring for because it got in the way.......i need that string back lest i show the world my underpants, theyre falling down like a bad stock exchange. i'm losing inches and my calves have almost NO fat on them at all, sometimes its a bad thing because they cramp really easy now. with enough DDR and a healthy diet i think i may be able to fit into my "never gonna wear that again" wardrobe

You are very motivating to the rest of us! Great job fitting into those pants!
You know, don't worry about what the scale says, just go by how you feel and how your clothes fit. That's the real test of your progress!

i know i shouldnt worry about how much i weigh....but i need to get down to where i can atleast use the digital scale i have here at home. (maxes out at 300) i'm glad that i can motivate someone other than myself, it feels good to return the favor since all of you great people have motivated me to do my best, and never give up! i can honestly say that i havnt met a group of people more understanding or supportive than you guys. thank you! i'll keep updated as promised so here goes: this morning i woke up extremely sore from the DDR session from the day before, and toward the end of the day i decided to work some more DDR to loosen my muscles and stuff. it worked but i have a question. if i keep up with the same routine every day will i always be this sore in the mornings?
