Hi, I am about 5'2" and weight approximately 135 pounds right now I am very happy because last summer before my senior year I dropped around 12-15 pounds weighing 130 at the beginning of the school year before I even knew about ddr. What my dilema is I know I don't need to loose anymore really but I want to loose possibly 10-15 pounds depending on how I look while Im loosing them just so I am skinny and dont have the extra flab. Anyway... I started about 2 weeks ago and play about 5 days a week for at least an hour or two a day and I have been increasing my calorie intake trying to make it so my body doesn't think it is starving. 2 weeks since I started and I still haven't noticed any weight loss except possibly a pound because I weighted this morning and it said 133.5-134 but I was wondering what can I do to speed this process up or is it just hopeless? I have been tryin to loose these last 10 pounds forever and it would be great if DDR would assist me in doing so which I am confident it will since I never get excercise any other way. I guess a good thing is I haven't gained anything but I was hoping for a little bit better results starting to doubt I will be able to loose those last few pounds. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Weight loss isn't something to be rushed. Just give it time and you'll lose weight. Also, the difficulty you're playing at feeds into the amount you'll lose. If you're playing on light/basic, you're not going to lose too many calories as some one playing heavy/maniac or even standard/trick. If you're increasing how much you eat, be careful of that too. If you eat too much, the exercise you're doing won't do what it's going to do with too much extra calories. Hope this helps.

If you started from no excercise then chances are you are building muscle and losing fat at the same time. Unfortunately, or fortunately, muscle weighs more than fat so the scale isn't an accurate measure of how you're doing fitness wise. Last Friday I went to a Health-O-Rama at the local hospital and weighed in at 128lbs. (I'm 5'2" too) But what surprised me was my Body Fat Index. It was less than the desireable range for my age and the nutritionist basically told me to eat more. (sweet words)
So don't be discouraged, keep DDR-ing, drink lots of water, and stay clear of the junk food. Good Luck! BTW, I started two months ago and was 145lbs. Now that I weigh less and can fit back into my skinny clothes its great, but whats even better is how much stronger I feel.

Great to hear the news . I have a question... how much water exactly did you drink and did you eat alot of calories/carbs while playin ddr by a lot I mean what you should have in a day. By not eating junk does that include low fat low calorie fruit snacks like fruit rollups and gushers? Thanks, Aaron

Okay, this is what I've done. I've been playing for about 7 months and lost over 50lbs. I've cut back on the sweets and stopped over eating. I'm still eating normally but not overloading like I was. I drink plenty of water when I DDR. Between the slight change in diet, water, and DDR, I've lost my weight. Also that's true what cpurola said. Muscle could and most likely is building. Just keep a look out for any signs that you're losing too much weight. Your body knows better than you do. The last thing you want to do is make yourself sick from weight loss. I'm not trying to scare you from losing that weight. Go for it. You can lose it if you keep up the effort.

Hi Aaron, if you are eating sweet treats that taste like candy, welll...... it IS candy. Sorry, but the no fat 'fake-out' is fooling you into thinking it won't make you fat..... it will. Stay away from sugary anything, and fatty foods like potatoe chips. As far as the water goes, I have one of those pint water bottles and fill it twice while I'm DDR-ing. The rest of the day I just drink water as my 'in-between' snack, to try and stay away from food. I'll play games with myself. I can have those crackers only if I'm REALLY hungery (not just bored), after I finish a cup of water. It delays my snacks, and sometimes if a meal is comming up I can do without the snack. Just a few of my tricks. Wish I could say they always work, but my weakest time is late at night when the frosted cheerios, peanut butter, chedder cheese, or chocolate chips call to me. (or sometimes all at the same time!) Good Luck, Cindy

0 calories usually means just that... 0 calories...
That doesn't mean you should just sit there and eat it just to eat... but if you gotta eat something that would be the thing...

Check the CARBs also.. That's loads of sugar, and suger sticks to your body like glue..

Also, watch out for Diet Sodas that do NOT contain splenda, other sweetners tell your body its sugar anyways and anything you eat along with it will go to fat.

UPDATE: As of this morning even after easter dinner, with all the temptations to eat the choclate candy or pies I stayed strong and instead of gaining weight lost weight! Wow thats a first on a holiday :-). I have taken a lot of your suggestions and am happy to say after about 3 weeks I am now weighing 131.5 that is so awesome I am almost back to what I weighed in the summer but want to get down to 120-125. Unlike most fad diets I didnt loose like 5 pounds in a week but I feel much better about myself knowing that I earned the pounds I have taken off and some of that could even be muscle. I had a question though... about the diet pops I can't live w/out at least one a day due to my caffiene addiction ;-) i've never heard of that about it turning stuff you eat into fat I may have to try to ween myself off of it. I drink mostly water now 1-2L a day approxametly. I eat normal but I just try to stay away from as many carbs although I do eat them because when exercising I know they give your body energy, and basically stopped eating all snacks except the occasional fruit that was probably my biggest problem eating 2-3 snacks a day. Other than that I pretty much have what I want but I don't overdue it. Just wanted to let you guys know not to give up for any of those people struggling because although I was struggling for a little bit at the beginning it was worth it just keep at it. I know I am not the one that lost a ton of weight or anything amazing as of yet but I mean I think I am closer and closer everyday to my ideal healthy weight which makes me ;D thanks guys for all your support if you have any more tips I would greatly appriciate them and would love to read them.
Thank-you very much! Aaron

Also when your doing high impact cardio which I think DDR for most people is accurate, your tearing down your muscles and as they rebuild and get stronger/leaner they will have to retain water to help heal them. So dont get too discouraged its comming off you just cant measure it as well yet. Plus when you only have very little to lose it will come off slow. I have about 60-70 to lose and if I see 5 lbs come off a month Im happy. Also it depends on your sex, men lose faster women its harder.
