Hi I've been looking at this lately because i am sick of my softpad www.ddrgame.com/psdadaremeda1.htmlI was wondering how are they? Do they move around while playing? Do they break easily? Do they last long? If i'm gonna spend $150 on a pad i want to make sure its gonna be durable thanks.

Don't go generic with a metal pad. It's too risky. If you want a more affordable metal pad then go with RedOctane's afterburner. www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.htmlIt's an extra $50.00 but then you get the safety of a warrenty as well as the option to buy replacement parts. A Colbalt Flux is the best of the best, but they're more expensive. There's one on ebay right now for $200.00 search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=cobalt+flux&category0=That's pretty awesome...even used...those cf's last FOREVER. PS that's not a sale price on that metal pad on the link you posted...it's just inflated to make it look better at Christmas time.

It's likely your control box that came dead since none of the buttons work other than start/select, e-mail Red Octane and tell them what happened.

Hmm, if the start/select button work, how would it be the control box if those buttons are on the control box?:X well you probably know more then me so i hope you're right, i don't want to have to go through the hassle of sending that big pad back. I emailed them, we'll see what they say

Well if nothing worked then it would definately be the control box or your PS2 and PC.
The fact that you have 4 buttons or more that do not work is unlikely and thus there's got to be something wrong with the c-box, not to mention mostly all dance pad issues are from the c-box.
Actually, are start and select on the control box or on the pad, because maybe you lost the ground connection between the c-box and your dance pad... If you had a Cobalt Flux I could help you troubleshoot. In that case then you would need to get a new dance pad or try to fix the ground wire (if the ground is out then none of the dance pad buttons will work). But if start/select are on the dance pad then your ground is fine and there's something majorly wrong with the c-box.

Actually, now that i think about it, when i opened the box for the control box, the end with the port for the pad was like split open(the control box case was split open a bit) and the port was kinda tilted, I straightened out the port and was able to shut the case of the control box. Maybe the wire was knocked loose or something cause of that?

Probably the ground wire that goes to the pad. If that happened, then button presses on the pad wouldn't register, but buttton presses from buttons on the control box itself would. I don't know the exact pinouts of the control box, or I'd give you some troubleshooting steps.

They charged you for a replacement?
It could still be your control box. The start/select buttons will be directly soldered to the control box circuit board and so you probably have a bad connection between the circuit board to the 9 or 15 pin d-sub adapter, or from the d-sub adapter to your dance pad, if it's the latter then your dance pad is screwed, the former and it's just the c-box (still the likely culprit).
But you shouldn't be charged for the replacement!!

I agree you shouldn't be charged for a replacement. You did talk to customer service, right?

Well, i kept emailing and calling them, but never get a response. So i decided to just order a replacement box that you can buy from the site. I know i could of saved the $45 but whatever, at this point its worth to spend the little extra to get this working. I just REALLY hope that was the problem so the new one will fix it.

This makes me grateful that I make my own dance pads. $45 for the control box is outrageous.
I buy Wingman USB controls for $10 shipped and for PS2 I bought used PIU dance pads and used those control boxes. There is no reason to charge that much money for a control box.
But I'll still say the c-box is the culprit. The afterburner pads likely have a play-test before shipping to ensure all the buttons function, so the pad should be functional. All I have to say is good luck and you must DEMAND your $ back.

I did next day shipping but it was only like $8 more. i was hoping it would of came today cuz its like the 2nd day since i ordered it but they just barely shipped it so i gotta wiat till monday. But i dont even care if i spent the extra money( even tho i can barely afford it right now ) as long as it gets it working then everything is all good
