you know what you got, so it's not like it really matters.

If you have hands off or mines off, it won't record your scores. But there's no hands in July/Tough Enough....

Well, I'm sad, cause I was playing let my love go blind - on expert... and yes I know it's only a 9. but a 9 with mines and hands dang it! I was doing it! not the greatest... but I was almost done with the song and I screwed up and failed out. Anne is sad. sad indeed. on the other hand I tried out some of the songs you all were doing. xuxa hard - 76% July hard - 70.2% I'm starting to be able to read in x2 speed which is helping me finally pass 9's again. it's been a while.

That's cool. I'm getting to the pointwhere I need to install a bar or I just can't do some things, like July expert.
MAx300 on Heavy are pushing it, but if I had a *reliable, sturdy* bar I could do things like July on expert a whole bunch better.

Argh. Stop relying on bars for skill!

Listen to some IDM, like Aphex twin, possibly start messing around with sequencing drums -- it helps you understand syncopate beats easier. It's not amatter of understanding the beats, I understand how the rhythm is supposed to go, I just haven't gotten to the point where I can easily sight read the arrows and understand which arrow patterns correspond to which steps. To use my DDR=reading analogy, they're new words I have to add to my vocabulary.

Which arrow patterns correspond to which steps? Huh? Here's what works best: try and keep a 1/8 beat tap in your head, that'll help you pick up from 1/8s and 1/16th easier. As for triplets, i dunno. I just work with music a lot so it's no problem to me, sorry

Well Abrann probably would know how 1/16ths work, he's been playing DDR for two years, yes?
He's saying that it's just in this game and these songs he has troubles corresponding the music?
Is this the correct message I'm getting?

No, it's more reading the arrows and getting my feet in the right place at the right time. I know how it's supposed to work, and I know where in the beat I'm supposed to be stepping/what part of the music I'm following. I don't read a series of single arrows when I play. I read combinations of arrows, I read transitions between arrows, I read body positions. I don't see L,U,R, I see left turn half cycle back-step crossover, where L,U,R,D becomes coutnerclockwise spin left foot start. I need to learn those arrow patterns for the 16th note syncopations/gallops in songs like "On a Day Like Today" hard. For me, it's a matter of learning the new combinations.

Well I may sound super-lame, but I couldn't even pass Hardcore of the North on Hard... I got 5/6 of the way through the song, but I just couldn't deliver.
My goal by the end of July is to be able to get atleast an 80% on it on Hard.

I became aware yesterday that I have a major problem with my positioning. I have a huge tendancy to plant my right foot on an arrow and do the footwork with my left foot. this is why I can't do backwards crossovers well! That right foot just wont budge! I have NO idea how to retrain myself into using my right foot more, but I'm sure it's going to set me back.

I tell him he's never going to get better unless he starts flying around the pad. Then a song like Can't Stop Fallin' In love [speed mix] comes on, and he's 100% worthless...

What I had to do to retrain myself was to go back to light mode and force myself to alternate feet for a few songs. The only time I would not alternate is consecutive steps on the same arrow. You hit a few 1/4 note crossovers in those songs that really help retrain the way you look at those arrow combinations. (crossovers rather than 80's two-step)

If I'm having a spazz attack I do a really fast song like R&P heavy, it sends me into panic and I stop spazzing for the rest of my session.

80's two step? that's pretty good, i don't devote myself to a song unless it's a difficult challenge. I only score attack when Im done with passing the game :-P I got 90% on My Favourite Game expert, and full comboed it up til the end, and i missed ONE step.

Zuza WAS a difficult challenge, but I changed the arrows to 1.5X and it was a cinch! I was so surprised that a little more speed actually helps you read the arrows! I'll update more scores after my ITGness today.

I passed pandemonium on medium with 70-something% twice in a row. My legs felt like they were made of squiggaly marks after that.

I like the way you spelled squiggaly! And Grant, yeah, it normally does. I switch between 1x and 2x though just so I can say I can read well on both. I can AA bag on x1, if I did it on x2 it wouldn't be a 10 I haven't really tried Pandy, i guess I'll have to. brb
