I usually do work-out mode with continuous play, so I don't see my scores until after I'm through (except for the bar on top.) And my scores seem really, really weird - they don't seem to correlate with my own impression of how well the dances went at all. It seems like I get a few B's, even on difficult dances, and then all D's, even when the song was an easy one that seemed to go perfectly. The bar seems all wrong too. I did "absolute" almost perfectly, but the bar just kept going down and down.
Anyone have any idea what could be going on with this?

Well, the only thing I can think of is the timing of the arrows is off. You can adjust it in the options menu. Maybe you accidentally changed it and now everything is off a bit. That's what I'd check first.

Ah well here is why. Konamix is based on the 4th mix engine. In other words a full combo is an A. Therefor most likely you will get a B. Even if you get all perfects and just one good you go down to a B. AA's are all perfects. You might also want to lower the difficulty if it goes down to quickly. Hope that helped.

I don't see how it can be anything being off... the screen shows perfects and greats and the number of combos going up and up, but the bar still goes down and it ends up being a D. It's like the scoring systems aren't even connected.

Okay, I paid very close attention tonight and this is what I'm seeing: the first few dances seem to be scored accurately. Then - perhaps after a particularly bad dance - the bar seems to get "stuck" on a D. No matter how well I dance - and I know I did "after the game" without any mistakes at all - the bar will not BUDGE. It does still go down if I make a mistake, but it will not go up. So I just get D after D after D, even for perfect dances.

I tried moving the difficulty level, no effect. I guess I'll just have to accept this as an annoying bug, but as long as it doesn't affect my workout, I can live with it.

I've noticed the EXACT same thing! I get a few B's at the beginning, and then the rest are just D's!
Perhaps the grading system in workout mode is accumulative. The grades just show how will you were doing overall when you did that particular song. So if you screw up real bad then you have to do really good for awhile for it to bring you back up from a D.
At least the Calorie counter doesn't get messed up.

I'm pretty sure now that what causes it is losing all the points in your dance bar. Once you fail a song, you're stuck at a D for the rest of the workout. (Even though you don't technically fail during workouts.) So the grades up to the failed song are reliable, but after that you can't do better than a D.
It's incentive to get better, anyway! I finally got through "Dead End" without losing all my points. :-)

And just now I got through "Genome Screams" - a whole workout without losing my score bar. Wheee!

I spent two days just unlocking the "hidden collection" but I have it all now. Work out mode is really good if you're trying to burn calories, you don't have to waste all that time. I started improving a lot faster when I started doing it, too.

doesn't workout mode make the songs a little easier.
This is off topic but on my Max on ps2 I did max 300 on heavy on workout mode and it felt almost like light or standard
