Hello everyone! This is my first post here, and I know this isn't a HUGE question, but it's just something I'd like some advice on. Last summer, I played DDR for about 45 minutes every night, and was rather successful, I lost about 30 lbs over the summer, which was really awesome. However, come college, I live in a very tiny dorm room, where I can't play comfortably, and I don't go home very often. That, along with college food, has pretty much put me back where I started. :/ Next year, however, I'll be living in a four person suite with some friends...the living room would be big enough to be able to play DDR...my problem, however, is that my roommates all think it's really stupid, and to be honest, I'd be kinda embarassed to play it. Sure, I can play heavy, but I'm not the most graceful of players, lol. So, my question, I suppose, is should I go with it anyway, and bring it to our room next year? And if so, is there any other kinds of exercises or just anything else that would help me get the weight off? My main concern is just losing the weight. Thanks!

I'd bring it. I mean, you may find that once they try it, they get into it. But if not, or if you're too embarrassed to play (and there's nothing wrong with that), you may also want to find something else to do.
DDR as an exercise is not particularly special (aside from being a lot of fun). You can do just about anything and it will help get the weight off. The latest studies are showing more and more evidence that brief, high intensity training (hill sprints, running stairs, jumping rope) will do more for raising your metabolism for longer periods of time. And, if you think about it, that's sort of like DDR. A minute and a half to two minutes of intense activity, followed by a brief period of rest. Just load up some DDR music on your Ipod, and jump rope to the beat for a song, rest and repeat as you would for a DDR workout.

Right I Agree...you move your feet just as much walking around your nieghborhood or something as you do playing a session of DDR. Just a half an hour of walking a few days during the week can help you lose those pounds too! Good Luck Cutie!!!
