I know there is already a thread about falling off dance pads, but I am looking for a solution to the problem not asking if it has happened to anyone else. I have the cobalt flux which is a good inch thick off the ground. I know that I am an idiot , but I get so into my dancing after a while I must get too close to the side and my foot gets half off and it rolls. Then I fall down and writhe around for 10 minutes, and end up spraining my ankle. To make matters worse I have done it not once but twice. i know this makes me an even bigger idiot. The last time I really thought I broke my ankle and went to the emergency room. It ended up being a really bad sprain. I limped on that thing a good while, and boy was it embarrassing to try to explain how I sprained my ankle playing a video game. I am now able to play again but I am kinda scared of getting to close to the edge again. I am open to suggestions on how to safety proof my mat. I had thought of putting the foam inserts from my other mat around the sides so if I get too close i would be just stepping on those. I think the problem is that I learned on the soft mat with socks and you can feel the raised places and if you step off no bigee cuz you are just 1 cm of the ground. Now I wear tennis shoes and can't feel anything. Please help cuz all I can think of is falling off when I am playing.

I roll my ankles on my ignition too... I think your best option is to put something along the sides of the pad to keep you from completely falling off.
