Ok...so my DDRMAX and two pads arrived Friday. I feel like an addict already. I played for as much time as I could on Saturday and Sunday.
My question is this: What level should I be able to play at?
I've been playing on light and playing a variety of songs. I get A's on most of the easy songs. My limit tends to be four-footers right now. Once the BPMs get over 160 or so, I have trouble as well.
I was able to get one aa, can't remember the exact song.
Those 1/8 steps are killing me as well.
Any tips?

The best advice is to keep practicing. You should be able to play at the level you can play at. You obviously aren't going to be busting out 10 footers your first week, or month, most likely. I've been playing off and on for two years and I can just barely handle 9 footers. SheScreamedCaludio, on the other hand, has only been playing for a few months, but can pass songs that are far more difficult than I can handle.

I've been playing for around 8 months, I think, and I am just now starting to play on standard. I think I could have passed most standard songs months ago but I didn't want to move on before I could master light mode. I can pass some heavy songs but not with good grades.

I have been playing since June and have passed a 10 footer.
