I would suggest to you to do some streching and massaging of your legs before and maybe even halfway through your playing if you are getting shinsplints on beginner mode.... of course that advice tripples later on in the game.

Well it also depends on the song, Macho Gang is like about 1/4 of the way though just jump step, jump step, jump step, So that is prolly it. I know jumping for extended periods of time will so it for me. When I was 17 it was way worse tho cause I think I hair line fractured my calf and I kept on dancing the night away even though I couldn't figure out why the heck my leg hurt so bad. I have two bumps there now and I think that is where to bone healed itself. Anyways. Thanks for the advice I usually try to stretch a lot before I start dancing ans especially if I know I am goign to do that song. I just love the beat. WINGS

Roll your ankles a lot. Walk on your heels, then your toes, then the outside of the feet, then inside. Then more ankles rolls. Then even more ankle rolls.

Hi, I'm new. A few years ago I did a paper route which involved a lot of walking and going up stairs. I wasn't used to it and developed painful shin splints within a couple of weeks. My sister told me to try wearing good running shoes (I had been doing the route in slippers). I bought a nice pair of running shoes, and went from hardly being able to take a step to pain-free in only a couple of days. So appropriate footwear helps, if you haven't tried that already.

unfortunatly for the people playing at home you cant wear shoes on soft pads, you rip them very quickly if you do, you can on hard pads but not everyone has a hard pad, proper foot wear will probably help if you have a hard pad or play at the arcade all the time, otherwise I am afraid your a bit out of luck on that front.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that. LOL We still have the soft pads and even barefoot, they're already getting worn out. Our CF pads are on order, I can't wait until they get here and I can try them with shoes and see if they help my shin splints.

Shin Splints... ick. I had those when I would run lines in soccer. (ie: ball girl) I got those a lot during Gym class also because I would run the track in my skate shoes or converses... not a good idea by the way. And the track tears away at the soles so I have huge holes in my skate shoes.
I usually blame my flat feet for it though and my lack of good running shoes.

Actually you can use shoes on your soft pads if you cover the pad with a piece of vinyl. RedOctane used to sell what they called "pad covers" that were just a heavy vinyl square, and one side was a bit rough so it didn't slip. But they don't sell pad covers anymore. But you can get a piece of vinyl and cut it to cover the pad. Then secure it with heavy-duty velcro strips (or even just loops of elastic) to anchor it firmly to the pad, then go ahead and play with shoes! Your shins and feet will love you for it. I used this several years with shoes on top of Ignition pads and worked great, and the vinyl didn't interfere at all with the pad's sensitivity, and the pads didn't rip either.
