Hey all,
Alright here's the story. I got DDR Max 2 about two weeks ago. Before that two weeks I was having knee problems for over a year or so. I was associating it to an old wrestling injury I got back in highschool maybe 6-7 years ago. Although I was cracking it an awful lot in the past year or so. Anyway before I got DDR My left knee usually was uncomfortable, rarely was it ever painful, usually it was just an annoying shifting feeling in my knee as i walked.
At the very least the knee usually creaks as it bends and then straightens out when i'm walking which differs from my right knee as it doesn't creek (I tested this by putting my hands on my knees as I walked...) An MRI test showed that the cartiledge in the knee was slightly thinner then normal but the doctor said it wasn't anything too terrible, he prescribed Glucosamine Sulfate which is supposed to help regrow cartiledge and aid in joint repair.
After playing DDR for the first week and a half, my knees surprisingly felt better (which is ironic since it's clearly a high impact work out) In fact my knees felt better then i could ever remember, they didnt bother me at all whether i was climbing stairs, crouching, or sitting indian style....but for some reason last tuesday all of a sudden my knees went back to feeling awkward and uncomfortable again. It goes away slightly after a game of DDR but it's only temporary, in an hour it'll start creaking again.
It feels as if the knee cap isn't sitting right or something sometimes, but on inspection it seems no different from the other knee. The only things I can think of from that tuesday on was that a. I had switched from light difficulty in workout mode to standard, I don't recall landing wrong or anything that would have messed up my knees again though. b. it started raining a lot, maybe the humidity could have caused the change? c. My knee cracked when i turned abruptly. Not sure if any of that means anything.
I'm favoring the use of my other knee now so thats starting to take a toll on that knee since more pressure is being applied to it, though it doesn't creak or crack or pop like my left knee. I figured maybe a break from DDR might also help, I usually do it every other day but I haven't done it since wednsday.
Anyway sorry for the long post, just wanted to be thorough, I was just hoping if any of you had any advice, answers, or hypotheses on this issue. I was really happy when my knees weren't bothering me any more so i'm kind of dissapointed that they've somewhat reverted. Anyway, any info would be appreciated.
