Just getting to the site today after about a week. I hurt my ankle last week and had to stop. I was told it was tendonitis and to stay off it, ice it and stretch... My doctor wanted to send me to PT and I did make an appointment. I cancelled it today because my ankle is feeling better. I am going to have to wrap my ankles from now on and stretch really good. Can I use shoes on the soft pad or will it rip it? I am thinking about getting a hard one but not sure what type to get... I have a Playstation 2, so does anyone have good suggestions? I hope to get back to DDR tonight. Wish me luck!

Well now... I would recomend to just stay off it all togeather... Um... It depends what songs you'll be playing. Basic songs will not rip but if your going to play Maniac songs... well Just be careful with that leg

I would really consider gettin it check cause you could easily get a/or have a tendon tear, which is ten times worse than a broken ankle, cause it takes months to heal correctly

Advice? Go to PT, tendonitis won't go away by itself. I had it in both of my knees and had to wear these patches on them that had steroids in them that soaked into my tendons (it worked kinda like a nicotine patch). It took over a month of PT and the patches to completely get rid of the tendonitis.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will go to PT. I figured that since the pain is gone that it was healing... Any thoughts on a hard pad with shoes? I know, I know that I really need to stay off it but but but but I am sooo addicted to it and it makes me feel really great! Oh by the way, I recently saw a post that said to add a yoga mat under the dance pad and so I checked with my doc on this. She said that it is a bad Idea and allows for you foot/ankle conform to ways it would not normally do if you pronate/over pronate. Just a though. Take care! ;D

My advice for getting a hard pad is to get one that has a good strong name and a nice warrenty behind it. I'm regretting having bought my metal pad from a cheap nobody 3rd party company. Next time, I'm going RedOctane. They have a reputation for great DDR products. If you REALLY have the money, the Cobalt Flux I believe it's called is supposed to be the best metal pad that money can buy. I don't know if that's a huge hype or if it's really built that strong. At a price of over $400, I'm not that willing to find out. There are termed hard pads out there, but in the end they're made of plastic. Someone that has tried them would be able to offer more advice about them.
Look for a reputation and a warrenty. That's my advice in a nutshell.
