Do ddr pads eventually die after over dancing? it seems like the buttons are starting to "stick" per se, sometimes i mistakingly remove my foot from a long freeze button and i still get an ok, also the left button seems to get boos every time i press it, so tell me *sniff* is my ddr pad going to the big dance room in the sky? if so what are the advantages and disadvantages to flat, cushioned and metal pads? my current pad is www.ddrgame.com/dance-dance-revolution-m03588-2xm03788.html (i call it cushioned, lol)

yes, sadly...all DDR pads eventually die. If you want your pad to last you a really long time, I suggest you go with the Cobalt Flux. It's $350.00 but they last FOREVER. And they can take a ton of abuse. They are definitely the best of the best. Better than the afterburner...which is what I have. And that was $250.00. It has it's problems. Good pad overall, but it wouldn't outlast a Cobalt Flux by a long shot.

Are the cobalt fluxes relativly loud to play on?

Cobalt Fluxes are essentially the quietest pads you can get for a few reasons, mostly due to the fact that they're so sturdy and solid. Your feet pattering shouldn't resonate through the floor beneath you much at all.

I have had my CF almost 2 years now, and am always amazed that it performs like new, which is so great after going through a gazillion soft pads.
Anyway I have a question: Does anybody know of a CF that actually died, and what made it die? I just want to be on the lookout for the first sign of a problem.

Anyway I have a question: Does anybody know of a CF that actually died, and what made it die? I just want to be on the lookout for the first sign of a problem. Well answering my own question. My CF started to fail, even after routine cleaning, like there was a permanent short on the front row squares. The pad would like pick its own songs without me selecting, and when I was spinning the wheel it would stop on anything. So had my son do surgery on it. And what he discovered was that the glue on the front edges of the 3 front squares had released so the metal contacts were permanently in touch. So he put glue back, C-clamped edges overnight -- and it has been working flawlessly since - 3 weeks now. I've had it about 2 years and this is the first problem ever. But now it's like new again.
