Hey everyone... its been a while, and ive run into a wall. Today i started binge eating and just coulding stop.... i was doing sooo good all week too... do you think i should still exercise today? would it be worth it even though i messed up so bad? or should i just pick up and start again tomorrow? Also does anyone have any tips for avoiding the urge to binge eat? its so aweful, and makes me feel like such a failure, but i cant help it. thanks for your help and support!

Of course it will still help to exercise!!! Get on that dance pad! Let me ask, before the binge did you have a craving for something? Chocolate, pizza, whatever? It's been shown that is you have a craving for something, and you deny yourself that craving, you'll eat everything in your path to try and feel satisified and chances are in the end, you'll indulge in whatever it was you wanted in the first place. If that was the case, for next time I would reccomend just have a little bit, or even a decent sized portion of whatever it is you want. A little bit won't hurt you. Constant binging will

ahhh bingeing. I HATE it when I do that. But every once in a while, I do indulge in it. Usually it's because I'm just hungry and nothing I eat fills me up enough to stop being hungry so I just keep eating and eating. I would suggest getting something that you know is going to fill you up and curb your appetite, even if you don't have the same problem as I do. If you feel full, you might be compelled to stop. The rest is probably mental.
but yeah, I'm going to have to agree with psisar. GET UP AND EXERCISE. Even if you did eat a lot of calories, it never hurts to burn some of those off. And you continue to build strength. Hizzah!

Okay, I've been a little remiss in checking the boards, but here's my opinion...
First off, you had a temporary setback. In the grand scheme of things, though, it's not a big deal. Forgive yourself, and move on. You may not be able to change the past, but you can learn from it.
I see a lot of dangerous thoughts in your writing. "I'm a slob" "I can't help it". These are the thoughts that can creep in and bring you down. You have to believe in yourself, and in your ability to do this. It all starts there.
Second, set aside a day, once a week, or once a month, and let yourself indulge in what you want. As psisar said, denial just makes you want it more. It's a lot easier to behave the other days of the week if you know that you only need to hold on for a few more days. One day does not make or break a diet. Just as you can't lose a ton of weight by dieting a single day, you can't gain a lot in a single day either.
Third, always exercise. Exercise releases endorphins, which make you feel good. They're natural antidepressants.

set aside a day, once a week, or once a month, and let yourself indulge in what you want. Although I'm really late to the party: If you do that, consider that day of eating sweets to have been your time off. Certainly don't give up hope or beat yourself up. If you can learn to enjoy the occasional day off, then it can even put you in a good state of mind to lose weight even better. That's personal experience talking. So call it a day off instead of a binge. Everyone deserves days off: so do you. Look fondly on what you've done and what you're doing for yourself overall. It wasn't a mistake. It was an "unplanned vacation." Do what you can to plan the next ones too, and try to be happy about the big picture.
