figured it was about time I said hi to everyone here and give myself and introduction. My name is Megan and i'm a 23 year old geek. I've fought my weight my whole life and fought depression with it too. Several months ago I started on slim fast and went from 267lbs to 241 in just a few months. While I was on the diet I explored DDR as an option for excersing in the privacy of my own home. Then, like usual, I gave up on myself without fighting for what I wanted. I gained back almost all the weight (251lbs), I dropped out of school for a semester, and I've been fighting my worse depression slump I've seen in a long time. Now i'm tired of self destructive cycles and I'm exhausted emotionally/spiritually from beating myself up on the inside. I'm going to defeat this inner demon, but I have to acnowledge that I can't do it alone. I lurked here for awhile to see if I would stick with it and I'm overjoyed that I have. Now I'm just coming out of my box (so to speak) to meet and chat with everyone here. I hope to lose weight with DDR, but mainly it's just a release for all these bad pent up emotions i've been gathering for too long. You all have some great advice and I've loved lurking here these past weeks. ^_^ I hope to get to know you all better.

Welcome! Never be afraid to ask for help, either here, or from other people. In your situation, I highly recommend you see a therapist to help you on your journey. Seeing a therapist doesn't carry the stigma that it used to, and can be amazingly effective in helping you get past mental blocks that you put in the way of your progress. I've made more progress in the past 4 months of seeing a therapist than I'd made in the previous 6 years. If you find the right person who gives you techniques that work for you, it's astounding how fast you can turn your thought processes around.

LoL! I'm not going to edit my original post, but I will comment that I definitly needed more caffine on that shift. I normally don't sound quite so angsty. ^_^ Thank you for the suggestion Abrannan! Therepist just aren't the right path for me however. Been there, tried that. Took my damaged psychie and ran for a yoga class. ^_- In the end, my boyfriend did more good then the therepist ever did. Thank you all for the warm welcome!! I'll definitly be looking for help as I move off of the good/greats in beginners mode and into the "real" game. Now I just need to tear myself off of World of Warcraft more often to practice. <3 I had a good 2hr session today. o.O;;; my legs were all wobbly when I woke up and if I didn't have to go to work...i probably would have jumped right back on. Ummmm...a few words: Tomatoes...nuclear reactor core...bunnehs....Intervenous medication tubing splicing device. <3

I would contend that you just didn't find the right therapist, but I am just a little pro-therapist (I'm married to a Marriage and Family Therapist). In the end, as long as you find what works for you, that's great. Ah-ha! A fellow WoWer. Yeah, my ddr-time dropped off significantly after picking up WoW. Have to ask the standard question, what server? (I'm on Feathermoon)

The Mayor from family Guy stole my "Few Words" speech. I had it first dang it.... Let's see....I'm on: Achimonde- Locura lvl 60 rogue, Pequena lvl 60 dwarf priest, Olividado lvl 9 hunter Dark Iron - (forget my toons...) Crushridge - Megwhynn lvl 11 priest Kahdgar - Locura lvl 37 hunter Kargath - (forget my toons....) .....I have 6 or 7 more realms...but I can't remember them. ^_^;;; \ I wouldn't count therepy out as a wonderful treatment for some people. In fact I encourage anyone haveing problems they can't solve solo to see a therepist. I work closely with a few and in a couple short years I'll be working knee deep in them as a pyschiatric nurse. ^_^ I have seen them work wonders on friends....Im just too much of my own stubborn "I can tie my own shoelaces" kinda person. I prefer being the only one banging around my grey matter with the Pyschie exploration hammer.
