i dont own a game console, but i want to get into ddr.
so should i buy a PS2 or XBOX?
the XBOX has the DDR with 'work out mode' - is this better for losing weight?
what do you think?

Both have workout mode.
PS2 has more versions of DDR available for it, especially with PS1 compatibility (PS2- DDRMAX, DDRMAX2, DDR Extreme, PS1 - DDR USA, DDR Konamix, DDR Disney Mix). If you get a modification to allow imported Japanese games, you add another dozen available mixes. DDR Extreme for the US and DDR Festival in Japan have Eyetoy compatibility for a bit of an upper body workout, though these modes aren't quite what they could be.
On the other side of the coin, the Xbox has Xbox Live for online play. You can download song packs, and play against other players online. The downside is that there is currently only one mix available DDR Ultramix, though Ultramix 2 is due out this November.
There are also DDR simulators available for the PC, such as Stepmania, Flash Flash Revolution, and DWI, though none of these has a fully implemented Calorie tracking mode yet (That I know of).
The answer? You can't go wrong either way, as with most things, it's a matter of preference.

DDR aside, Playstation 2 has many more games in general than Xbox.
Xbox has some exclusive games that are only available through them.
It's a hard choice.
I'm leaning toward both right now and I'll probably ask my husband to give me a Playstation 2 for Xmas. Maybe I'll save up my Starbucks money to pay for it...

I have PS2 and Xbox. I only have the Xbox version, there is only 1 version for the xbox now, but there is another one comming in Nov. The xbox live on ultramix 2 is going to be amazing.
