Depends on what you mean by "good shape."
If you eat healthy and workout on a daily basis, you should shed some pounds and be in better shape.

It also depends on where you're starting from. And how committed you are to it. The US army basic combat training course is 9 weeks, and they feel that they can mold anyone into an effective soldier in that time, but it's dedicated 24/7 training.

Yeah I forgot to mention that...because a bigger person would be able to lose weight just a bit faster considering they have more weight to move around. Or abrannan can fill in the blanks, I am too tired from DDR tonight =)

You *can* get a lot done in a few weeks, but just out of curiosity, what is it for? If you need to look your best for only one day, then basically starving yourself and working out to the extreme every day is pretty much the way to go. I know that's completely unhealthy, but that's what us girls do (Im assuming youre a guy ) to get prepped for a big event, such as a wedding or dance or whatever. But, if you want to be healthy, you're going to need more than 5 weeks to look your best and maintain a healthy weight. Basically there are things you can do to look good for one day in 5 weeks, or theres things you can do to get started in 5 weeks to set you for the rest of your life. Your call

If you are overweight for your height, which I do not think you are, you will lose weight alot faster. I just reccomend speaking with your doctor and come up with a diet and exercise program that you will do. There is no use starting something you do not like. Like my doctor has told me numerous times: "Exercise you will do, is good exercise." And depending on how much you want to lose, it might not happen in 5 weeks.

Definitely not overweight for your height. I'm 5'6" and my goal is to be 150. Based on some of your other posts I'm guessing that when you say get in shape you aren't talking about losing weight. You can definitely tone and firm up your body over 5 weeks. Try alternating days with DDR and weight traiing (even bodyweight training, push ups, sit ups, squats, etc). Stretch every day before and after your workout. If you commit about an hour a day to your routine, you should see some good results in 5 weeks.

Most people that I know that work out do a good cardio workout every day, with weight training alternating every other day.
