Actually, despite the various myths you'll hear about it, from the acronym 'we own the other team' to the noise you make when jumping in quake, the term woot goes back to hacking in the 80s.. When trying to gain access to a unix box, one would have to get root access. Root being the administators username.. once administrative access was got, the hacker would say 'root!' In the early 90s 'woot' started being said instead of root, and then gamers picked it up, and now everybody but hackers say it, generally as an exclamation of joy.

Root is like the admins admin like higher than admin No, it's just administrator on Unix. It's not like Windows where you have Administrator and then you have LocalSystem that is technically above that (though there's no account that is LocalSystem, some services can run as LocalSystem which gives full, unfettered access to the OS).
