My daughter in College want ddr....she does not have a ps3...or anything else. It seems like it is a whole lot of $$$$$ when college is rather pricey. Any ideas how I should proceed if we decide to pool bday and christmas $$$ from many sources, and about how much will it cost? Is this an endless pit? Or is this a good thing? She is on a d1 ncaa team....... thx!

Hmm, well, she certainly doesn't need a PS3 to play DDR. A cheap, really good alternative is to pick up a Playstation 2, (I'm sure their cost is close to nil anymore,) and Dance Dance Revolution Max 2, and In the Groove if you can find it. Depending on which way you go, there's going to be a plethora of options for different types of pads, so that's a bit harder to give any recommendations for.

Yes, you should be able to do it for under $200. I'd get a refurbished PS2 from Gamestop (I think they're about $80 right now) and one of the game bundles. You should be able to find the Supernova 2 bundle ($60) easily, but if you can find it, I'd go with the In the Groove Bundle pack (also $60). The ITG pack comes with two mats instead of one, and the mats are of very high quality. It doesn't hurt that the game is generally considered to be even better than DDR. Extra DDR games should run you about $40, whether they're used or new.
