Hi I was wondering if light mode is a good enough level to burn calories and lose weight. I find that standard is to hard for me, but I still want to lose weight. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well... it can be a good thing to start out with. It will get you ready for later levels which require much more activity, movement, and physical stamina. I don't know how many calories and how much weight you will burn/lose, especially depending on your diet. However, if you play it consistantly and committ to it, in no time you will be playing Standard or even Heavy and working your ass off. (Literally. )

The best indicator is how you feel. If you are out of breath on the Light level, then it's perfect for you. I've found that the 7-Footers and up on the Light level can be challenging for me, even though I'm a competitive runner.
You should be able to talk, but just barely. That's the level of aerobic activity you should be shooting for to burn calories and increase stamina.
Now, if you want to get better at DDR, you should try the Standard level for practice. Try one and then go back to Light for a couple of songs and then try another. With practice you will get better and better.

...and remember: You CAN work too hard. Don't kill yourself when working out, but make it somewhat uncomfortable... I suppose.
