Hi I want to try this game to lose weight... I weight about 260lbs and I was wondering what pad to buy... I never ed played ddr before but I like video games so I think I would like this concept... I was looking at the www.ddraction.com/dance-dance-revolution-addrignv2.htmlDance Dance Revolution DDR Ignition dance pad V 2.0 for PS 1 / PS 2 for 49.00 and the www.buynshop.com/productinfo/44/VG-DDR-ULTDX/BNS DX Xtreme Fusion Dance for 58.00 everything I read on this site says the ignition pad is very good however I was thinking about the weight issue... I figure If I was to get a middle market pad and liked the game then maybe the pad will last for a couple of months until I can get something more sturdy.. thanks Key

I have two Red Octane Ignition 3.0 dance pads. There are a number of features that I could preach about, but what really has me sold is the fact that I've never experienced any pain, other than soreness. Being 6'5 and 334 pounds, you'd think I would have some discomfort with my knees or ankles with all the jumps and all, but I do Heavy/Hard songs, and I never have had any problems. Plus, I have bad bones in my feet. Like, I have bone spurs at the end of every bone. Still, I've never experienced the pain in my knees, ankles and feet that I had experienced when running. I'd suggest any foam padded pad.

everything I read on this site says the ignition pad is very good however I was thinking about the weight issue... I'm no expert, but I think what you are referring to is the Red Octane Ignition dance pads - I'm pretty sure the one you linked to is a knock-off and probably isn't as good. I have two Red Octane Ignition 3.0 pads, both purchased direct from redoctane.com and they have been great. I highly recommend them. FYI, I weigh about 230 and have had no problems with mine. They are *so* much better than the stock pads. Aside from the cushioning, I play much better with these pads, due to the raised arrows and the larger and more sensitive arrow switches.

The Redoctane Ignitions are marginally better than other ignition pads, but at 2X the cost I would pass one up in a second. If you can order the cheapest foam pad from e-bay and try to get one with USB support since you can get into Stepmania and use the same pad for that. Also buy two to save on shipping since each pad will last 3-6 months of average abuse.

Well I got the React professional series pad thingy.... It's really sensitive which really helps me during songs with a lot of notes. I mean, you can remotely tap any button without a lot of pressure and it hits the notes just fine... But it was $100... Get a cheap pad for like... $20.... It'll save you so much in the long run. You'd have to be like.. 700 lbs to hurt the pad, so don't really worry about your weight issue. I worried about that myself but the pad only gets messed up with months of use or if you like... stab the arrows with a knife like a psychotic freak lol.
