Oh Snap! I wish StepMix 2 wasn't over. Could I maybe use some of your stuff for my pack doug? Once I feel a song is completely done, feel free to put it into any pack, I just don't want multiple versions of steps for the same song to exist out there, which is why I put a version number on that simfile link (because it isn't done)

Well, as G H 3Iron Y as it appears to be... the contest seems not to be open to public vote. As best as I can surmise, only people enrolled in the contest can "vote" for other people in the contest. And this "voting" is done anonomously. You are presented with three random songs at a time and you must listen to at least 1 minute of each. Then vote good, better, and best relatively to each other. However you never find out who they were. This process is called reviewing.
You can review songs that are not in contests as well, which do show the the artists after you rate everything. And the more YOU review, the more you get reviewed by others. Sounds like a pyramid scheme almost.
And, to top it off, there is no measure of your current standings in the contest. So in march at the end of the contest, it will be abrubpt and random who wins. (Assuming there are any winners, as the details say there may not actually be any winners).
Oh well.

Actually, it's a bit of brilliant system. You rate songs relative to one another, which eliminates any "I'm going to give any song that isn't mine a 1, and rate my song a 10". Keeping the public out of it eliminates vote bots, or popularity contests. Imagine if somebody went to the guys at Penny Arcade, donated a sizable amount of money to Child's Play, and asked them to mention to vote for his song in the next DDR. That's tens of thousands of votes right there. Forcing you to particpate and vote in order to get your song in the rotation means that the system will have more votes overall, which makes for better qualitative judgments about the songs.
As for no standings, that keeps people from downrating the songs at the top of the standings in order to prevent them from winning.
All in all, it's a very solid, un-gameable system that should produce quality results.

that's true, I guess it's an oddly effective system.

All in all, it's a very solid, un-gameable system that should produce quality results. I agree that the review is great for general reviewing, but for this contest... it is designed to earn them more money. I have a free artist membership, which means I pay the most to enter my song and get in general 1 review for every 10 that I give. If I pay the top level membership of ~200.00 USD per year, I can enter a song, for free with each subsequent entry only 5.00 and I have a review ratio of 1:1. I believe that vote bots can be eliminated by requiring users to create broadjam accounts confirmed by an e-mail (with code confirmations via obfuscated images and/or sound) which would be extremely difficult to automate. I do believe that you are right about popularity contests however, and for that I like the review system. I just wish the review system was the same for all people, and that non contestants could vote. I don't mind that songs are anonomously voted for. I mean, what is to stop me from posting my broadjam login and password all over the internet for people to login and review for me (much like multiple people playing the same MMORPG character 'round the clock) to earn my song maximum review credits... which is why equal and unweighted review credits would be better regardless of how much I pay broadjam to enter.

OTM has been edited and is now called "Get Up & Move". I have all the single steps done, but it still needs double, couple, and solo (what is solo... like an extra arrow or something?) Solo is the same as single just colored differently. Like, going to the arcade and playing like it is normally, then holding down select when choosing a song, and changing the visual to Solo, and it changes the color of the arrows. More colors to break down the beats, like the 16th steps are purple, and down beats are the normal yellow, and upbeats are the blue color.

Actually, Solo is a 6 arrow version, with up+left and up+right added. IIRC, it only existed for 3rd or 4th mix. Ah, Wikipedia doesn't fail me"Solo Mode is a mode unique to the DDR Solo series, in which two corner panels (top-left and top-right) are added to the standard orthogonal panels. The player must read and step according to six columns of arrows instead of the usual four."

Havix: I know what you are referring to, choosing solo as an arrow color mod... but this changes the step patterns entirely.
I am going to guess that not many people play solo on SMO but maybe I'm wrong *shrug*

Yeah, I will bow down to you on that one >< I hated the solo mix so much I forgot about it...
But, solo did have the same color scheme as "Solo" in a normal game.

Actually, Solo mode appeared in Konamix, where it was just a single player version where the arrows were centered on the screen, colored according to the beat, and a 6-panel mode was available, but not required.

Pretty much just FLStudio XXL. I haven't been using a midi keyboard for a while so just mouse and keyboard for inputs. Just got a new track up too on my website that you will probably like called A Pixel is Born
