I notice that when I play on Dark in any game my scores are much higher. I think Dark is a great training option because it forces you to look ahead to see the patterns, so nothing surprises you, all you have to do then is read the rhythms coming up because you aren't distracted watching the arrows "land." I think Dark is especially helpful if you can read music to begin with, maybe that makes a difference? Maybe worth a try for folks just getting into DDR...

Dark is where the targets disappear, hidden is where the arrows fade out halfway up the screen. The way you describe it makes me think you're talking about hidden. because you aren't distracted watching the arrows "land." In any event, you should be playing be feeling the beat, not by looking at the targets. You'll find you'll be much more accurate then.
