Hi, the kids at the place I work love this game but my only concern is that some of the songs have lyrics that either are or sound inappropriate (they play DDR E) or the music videos have girls in bikinis, also not okay. We let them play it, but have to be careful to censor certain songs (so we don't get in trouble). I love the fact that it gets them active.
Are there any versions of DDr that are kid friendly?

Mario Mix for Gamecube. My 4 and 5 year old daughters love to play it. Even my 1 y.o. likes to jump around on the pad :-D
In the Groove (ps2) had edited lyrics so it's rated E.

There was a Disney mix for the original Playstation as well. It's one of those things that you may have to pay a little extra for just to have a used copy, but should also be child-friendly.
If I'm right in assuming that DDRE is the first Extreme, then they're playing on the PS2 - er, right? If you are using a PS2 then you may want to keep your eye on reviews for a game called "Dance Factory." It's due out in May, and will supposedly make a dance game out of any cd you can give it.

Dance factory? that sounds cool. We could put in kid friendly music....would definitely solve our problem.

Well, like I said it may be best to read the reviews first. That's after it comes out in the middle of May - at the soonest. The game may do a bad job of it. It may need more kick/bass drum than some of the children-friendly music has. It may do a good job of those but just be a lousy DDR Ripoff.
Plus, DDR songs tend to go about 80-120 seconds. A three minute long Kidz Bop song would even test some hardcore players. If nothing else, maybe renting it before buying would be good.
It's only one possibility, and one I would still suggest looking into with caution.
Yikes, though: I just looked up the Disney DDR mix on Ebay. The one I suggested earlier. Prices are ranging between $80 and $150, except for one guy who must have typed too many numbers. He has a buy it now price of $1,245.99. I'll put that one on my watch list just for laughs.

Also, the "girls in bikinis" can be taken out in the menu.

I don't recommend the Disney Mix for kids, even though it sounds like it should be ... it's just not very good: it's hard to use, and has very few songs.

I agree nescartfanatic, Mario mix is gonna be the best bet. on begginer mode it is super slow and kids can figure out how to do it. Also there aren't any questionable songs on it. They are all Mario remixes from all the Mario games nintendo ever made. So yeah best bet is Mario mix. I have it and I let my friend borrow it cause well I got bored with it really quikley. But for kids or begginers it is a great game.
