Hehe, I figured this deserved its own topic of speculation. Is anyone looking forward to this system?

So far I'm really ambivalent about this new generation of consoles. I remember all the lofty promises of last generation (episodic content and free game demos over Xbox live, the "emotion engine" that was going to add such a high level of realism to games), and this generation's promises seem just as outlandish. I also feel like they're just beginning to hit their stride and fully unlock the capabilities of this generation's consoles, like they're moving on too early.

Besides there won't be any really great software until year 2 or 3 of the next gen, so I'm not going to jump in too early.

Hence why I will not buy the next gen consoles till a year or 2 after the release...1. lack of good games and 2. expensive as [Expletive Deleted]

I always say the same, but i end up buying it since it's the thing to have.

Gawd damn PsP, the only thing it's good for is lummines which is like tetris and ridge racer. The 1 gig chip is also a plus ;D

I didnt get a PS2 till about 2 years after it was released...same with the xbox...I wait till someone decides to buy it for me, or the price drops under 200 bucks...most of the time

I'd be careful about what Sony tells you. Xbox 360 is confirmed to be around $300 and is to be out in November. Sony is scheduled for Spring, in Japan, which may even delay the release for US till fall 2006. Just wait till the systems are out before we get too excited.
