Don't get a 3.0. That's all I'll say about that. Just... don't.
I would suggest looking for a Madcatz McGroovz Beat Pad Pro. My first one lasted me months on playing heavy every day. The second lasted me a few months as well, before I hacked it to bits during a "creative" phase. Relatively cheap too, mine cost $80 CDN.

Yes the 3.0s suck... I got mine for christmas... and it didnt work a week later.. down arrow problems. I was super upset, but their really cool about replacing them, free return label free pickup.. which im in the process of doing right now. I just hope this one works longer than a day... cause it was a super nice pad the whole 20 songs it worked on.

Anne had a suggestion a while back of placing a soft mat over a dead ingition that actually works very well in my experience.

Yeah it does! I would stick the soft pad down on top with a whole lot of rug tape, and it worked wonderfully!
