I recently discovered DDR at an arcade. I am very new at this. Since then, I can´t stop thinking about playing the game again and again, so I decided to buy the home version. I´ve researched on the web and dont know what to get. Would it better to get DDR extreme 2 or in the groove? Which one is better? Which one is more fun? I´ll be using PS2 platform. Also, what about the dance pads? Would it be better to use the metal pad or the ignition pad from redoctane? Or what do you recomend? Please help me out, I want to get started with this awesome game and loose some pounds! Thank you ;D

Extreme 2 doesn't hit till the end of September, so we don't have complete details on it yet. Which means we can't really speak to it's relative difficulty level (Some mixes end up harder than others). On the other hand In the Groove, though a similar game, really has a different feel to it and can challenge you in ways that DDR can't. Some folks here have experienced varying levels of success and improvement by switching between the two games (many have noticed an improvement in their DDR playing after playing ITG). ITG has longer songs, DDR extreme(s) in the US have more recognizable songs. It's really down to a matter of personal preference. As far as buying ITG, a little birdie told me that you may want to wait until tomorrow.

Hey, thanks for your comments. I´ll think about it, still I´ll wait until the new version of DDR comes out to check it out.

Yeah, I was gonna get PIU for PS2 but I decided to wait and get EX2, and get PIU with a dual purpose pad when they come out. Plus PIU with a softy costs twice as much as EX2 alone, and I wanna buy a couple things from like Old NAvy or something.

i would totally recommend itg more because I have become more of an itgfreak than a ddrfreak now.
There are so many more fun songs with challenging steps in itg than ddr.

But there is always hope for ITG2 ...

If I had started with IN THE GROOVE I never would have become a DDR player. I sold my copy on Ebay - just hated it. Enjoyed the songs..but couldnt stand the load time. I would start out with DDR Extreme or Revolution ..anything but In the Groove.
