Anybody here play Pump it UP?

At my arcade, there is DDR machine with horrible pads that's always incredibly crowded and it's hard to get a turn. It seems especially hard for me, because they're all sexist and they don't like a girl beating them... And then there's a PIU maybe 10 feet away that hardly has anybody playing it, and nobody is ever good at it.

I've only started playing PIU this summer, because before that, my thoughts were simply.. "EWWW FIVE PANELS!! RUN AWAY BEFORE IT EATS YOU!!" But if you're good at DDR, or especially ITG (more rhythmic similarities), it starts to come easily after it "clicks." I played for about 4 days with some Indonesian guy (hot) teaching me how, and on the 4th day I passed my first 9 footer on Crazy mode. So my question to all of you...

How many of you play PIU? I personally think people are more impressed with the 5 panel game, and also think that the stepcharts flow a lot more than DDR/ITG. But I might just be alone on my little PIU loving island over here. Just curious.

I can, and I am pretty good at it. What version do they have? Exceed 2? On exceed 2, hardest I can pass is Ill give youy all my love, which is a 16 (with an A, by the way I am proud of that)

A good one to get good at PIU with is Final Audition 3.UF on Crazy. Nice 1/16th streams.

PIU is about all I've got available to me, arcade-wise. I enjoy it, but I wish the arrows were colored according to the beat they fall on, like DDR/ITG, rather than by which panel they are. I use the colors to read the rhythms, and I can't do that with PIU.

I really wish I could, but the closest true to life arcade is probably atleast an hour and a half away...

I like how you said once you're good at beat-oriented games like that, you're good at most others because I've found that to be so true. At the 'arcade' we have around here, they have drum mania, guitar freaks, and some game where you put your hands in lasers or something. I'm no phenomenon, but I can pick those up and play well.

Dang, you guys are good (as in, compared to me). I wish some good people played at my arcade And yeah, it's an Exceed 2. I still can't find my way around the songlist, and I haven't played nearly all the songs. Of course, only been playing since summer. I can only do up to 10 on crazy and I can only do a few 10s. Any tips? Is the bar MORE necessary on PIU than on ITG? (I'm horrible with the bar, it doesn't help me much at all)

There's nobody around here to help me or learn from. Kinda sad.

Wow xstatic.. didn't think I'd meet another DDR playing midget who listens to DCD here

And MATS.. um.. You might just have really strong arms so it's not as hard for you. I'm not sure. But it's definitely harder for some people because they are short. For medium-tall people, the bar is pretty much right at the same level as their hands, so they can just reach back a little and grab it and.. woo, usin the bar. I'm short and I have to reach back AND up, putting my arms in a slightly odd position, and um.. it's just harder, I don't know how to explain it and I'm officially confusing myself.

Oh yeah, and there's the fact that when I'm holding the bar, I find myself having difficulty hitting/reaching the top two panels.

Size matters.

that's actually the reason I HAVE to use the bar w' PIU, as I found out today... but it hurts like heck.
