As i progress further in DDR I find myself usually failing on those damn red>yellow>red>yellow>red>yellow>red>yellow combos is that considered a "gallop". I have never got them right so I never get a galloping motion. (when i say red yellow i mean a 1/4 note and i imagine it is a 1/16 note) but anyway here is the best example i can find atm. www.ddrfreak.com/stepcharts/stepchart.php?song=tsugaru&mode=Single&difficulty=Trick&code=Normal&Submit=Submitthose pesky red purple combos from around measure 24 to 32 how do I do these?I believe if i can figure these out I can start AA'ing 8 footers instead of failing them. anyway sorry if this post is unclear anyway. any questions just reply^^

If so PM me when you post them

As always good advice abrannan. You know any good songs besides R&P? That song is to much for me atm. I can pass all 6 footers and about 50% of the 7 footers.

it also introduced your mom.
OH I WENT THERE SISTA.
Anyway, I think there's another couple that have a gallop at the END of the song on standard. B4U and .59 come to mind...

Yeah, tsugaru is fitting. I learned gallops on that song on standard. And if I'm not mistaken, that is the song that introduced gallops. That may be the song that introduced you to gallops, but it's not the first DDR song to have gallops. R&P was out earlier, and I'm sure it wasn't the first either. Though Tsugaru Standard is an excellent song for learning gallops. As far as other doable songs with gallops, Da Roots (Hard) on ITG has a good section. Most of the other songs that are coming to mind are on Japanese mixes (Cowgirl).

upon further looking for gallops, I have found Abyss on heavy has a good amount of them. And at a maximum of 142 BPM and only being a 7 footer it seems eaiser then most other songs with gallops to me.

Abyss does push the eight-footer boundry, though.

you think so? Because abyss was one of the first heavy songs I ever passed and I remember thinking that it was pretty easy.
kakume on heavy has a lot of gallops as well...

Absolute, B4U, Music -bostik radio edit- (great for gallops), Frozen Ray
all on heavy are perfection for gallops.

The hard part when you get to Heavy/Hard mode is that the difficulty really becomes individual skillset dependent. For example, I can handle runs/crossovers/jumps no problem, but I do have some difficulty with syncopation and gallops. So I'll rate songs with those elements as higher difficulties than someone who can read syncopation well, but maybe has problems with crossovers.

What is "syncopation"? I love runs and corssovers. I endure extreme just to play Kick the can on heavy. (which i can only get an A on atm). Only thing I don't like about runs/crossovers is if I get off beat by just a little i tend to fail the song because i get a note behind and by the time I notice it I have missed 5-20 arrows.

I hate crossovers, I still have issue's with them. I don't go fast enough on DDR, but I can totally do them on ITG. It's freaking annoying, I am like super good at ITG (FC Remember December Hard), but I can't get a freaking star on a seven footer on DDR to save my life!

I dont' ever turn around... does this make me naughty? I just hit two consecutive arrows with one foot. Yes, you are very naughty, a horrible person, and a stain on the hobby... Okay, maybe not, but I do think you'll find it hard to pass certain songs at some point with your method (particularly Can't Stop Falling in Love Speed Mix). Quarter note crossovers are pretty easily two-stepped (I still do it), but when you get up to long 8th note crossover runs, it's at least twice as draining to try and two-step them as it is to crossover. Of course, YMMV, and you should do what works for you.

I actually use to loathe crossovers as well. All I did to get better at them was to do some tame songs with crossovers like Wonderland [on Ex,] Love at First Sight, [Max 2,] V [on Ex,] and Ordinary World on Max... but I would turn off the freeze on that song.
As you get better and better at them, they get really fun and you don't mind doing them too much. The only crossover I have problems with at high speeds is Right, Up, Left. I'm stronger with my left foot, so that's why I have the troubles.
However, spins are a different spins. I do them, but I'm still working them out...
