A friend of mine wanted his own DDR, so he wanted me to buy him this plug and play DDR console thing (he doesnt have a credit card) This is what he bought... store.yahoo.com/ddrgame/dadareddrtvp1.htmlDoes anyone know if these things are any good or not? I told him to buy a PS2 or something, but this is cheaper. I'm thinkin that pad is going to crap out on him in no time though and he's going ot be greatly disappointed... especially if the songs suck too, which I cant find a list for. Anyways any feedback would be apperciated

Saw these at a mall kiosk once. The mats are the softest of the soft mats, and probably won't stand up to too much abuse. The graphics are 8-bit nintendo quality (I think they coded this off of one of those 800-in-1 nintendo knockoff systems), and the sound quality was almost as bad. I think I read a review of one of them somewhere, and they indicated that the timing issues were pretty bad as well. If he's got a computer, then for the same money I'd advise getting this instead: store.yahoo.com/ddrgame/dance-dance-revolution-m03830.htmlWhich is the pad+adapter combo that you can then use with Stepmania or DWI (If it's an older computer). Of course finding legal songs is another issue...

Ha, great. He's a pretty hard player too (I don't mean he's good, I mean he stomps... HARD) he ripped one of my soft mats to shreds. Thats why I wont let him play on my foam insert lol. Well, he'll have to find out on his own.. I tried to talk him out of it but he wanted to buy it. When it craps out I'll suggest he get the PC version, I didn't think of that before. Thanks
