I have been using a RO Ignition dance pad for about 4 months now. The first 3 weeks were fine. Now, no matter what I do (switch the foam around, duct tape the tears, etc.) the pad works great the first 4 or 5 minutes and then quits responding correctly. I have to unplug it between songs in order to get it to quit scrolling sometimes.
Anyway, my question for all you experts out there is on metal pads: Do they work better, long term? Do you still have annoying response problems? Do you have problems with metal pads, in general? I would like to hear from people who have had their pads (metal or padded) for more than 3 months and are not having problems. I am also thinking that being able to wear shoes on a metal pad will eliminate the blisters and calluses on am getting on my feet from dancing in socks!
Friends, I am relying on your expertise here! Thanks so much!

I don't have a metal pad (nor do I consider myself an "expert" :oP), but i have had the exact same frustriating experience with Red Octane Ingnition Pads (see below*) Everyoen Raves about Colbalt Flux Metal Pads, I have not heard a bad thing about them (except mabye issues with Stepmania). Only Issue is thier cost. Beware of other metal pads , especially ones of ebay. they seem to be nothing but problems for many people. *Here is my experince and what I did. Basicaly I bought two generic pads and modded them, see this thread. getupmove.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=DDR&action=display&thread=1113462541They've been going strong for nearly a year of heavys play. I've even begun to wear shoes because the pad is so sturdy. I'm convinced that what causes foam pads to fail (i've had 3 go so far prior to my Mod ones ) is heavy play and bunching of the pads. The bunching causes the metal triggers, plastic, and foam liners to tear. I've cut open my broken pads, and sure enough that was the case. The swiss chese like foam was worn and torn, and lhe plastics containing the metal trigers was ripped, causing misfires and dead arrows. I don't think it will help your pad, becuase the mod is meant to help extend the life and not fix a pad, but if you are considering new pads and don't have the $$$ for a CF pad, I think this is the way to go .
