I know this topic sounds like a spam ad, but it's just me trying to help, and i'm not selling anything I read online somwhere about and easy/cheap way to extend the life of foam insert pads. I once bought a red-octane ingintion pad a while back, and it crapped out after about 3 months of steady play. I was determined to find a better way thand spending a ton of money for a nice pad, only to have it break every so often. So here 's what I did. I went on E-bay and bought 2 generic igniton pads with dense foam inserts. The key here though is to make sure they are advertised as *new* pads and are being sold through a reliable seller. I got two of those for $25 with $10 shipping, and really, I can't tell the differnce between these and the name brand pads. Now the mod. I went to Office Max and bought 2 chair mats (the hard plastic mats the office chairs roll on) for about $25 . With a utility knife and yardstick (be carefull here) I cut the mats to fit indise the pad, on top of the foam inserts. I inserted them with the spike side down, to dig into the foam, ziped them up, and played. All i can say is WOW, the pad is so sturdy now it never bunches up, which is what i suspect causes foam pads to fail in the first place. They have been going strong for nearly a year, both work perfectly. Both for about $60 ;D ;D. Here is what they look like, to give you a better idea . This would even work with exsisting pads to extend the life of them. I highly recomend it, epsecially since eveyone here plays on the pads a ton to get in shape. Thats my story and i'm sticking to it

Thanks, I will try this. Especially since the foam in my pad is like giant puzzle pieces and not one solid piece. Maybe it will keep the puzzle pieces from moving apart. ;D

This seriously looks like a good idea. I may have to try it myself.
So far, only my up arrow is suffering badly - all of my arrows feel a bit caved in, and I've been wondering what could be put under them to keep them straight.
Thanks!

Yes! This is exactly what the mod helps with. There is no bunching of the mat at it holds together like a peice of metal. PLus, With the chair mat and the dense faom, there as been absoloutly no cave in at all. I think what happens when the pad gets bunched, the foam between the wire contacts gets worn out (even more so when the pad is "caved in"), and this causes misfires and broken arrows, which is not fun . The only disadvantage i've had so far is the pad is so sturdy, your feet dont sink into the pad at all. So it's like playing with socks on a metal pad and can get a bit slippery. I've actualy started using my shoes and it's still holding up good.
