scoring question for DDR Extreme (ps2)

for the longest time i haven't been able to figger it out what the little star means.

i was playing a song that i had done before and gotten a score of B.

i played again and i thought i did better and was hoping for an A. but i got a B again, but this time with a little star.

it's driving me nuts. what does that little star mean???

how did you go about getting a B with a star... most songs to get a song you A-AAA it.... i once got a B star on Drop Out heavy on little.... (doing it for shits and giggles)..... you must have gotten a lot of greats to get that score......

AA on 8th mix is harder then hell.... you must max combo the song to do it..... i was one arrow away from AAA a song got 1 good and A it.....
