Ok, Ive been playing DDR for four months now and i have just realized something today. I was playing Ecstacy (1.5x) Heavy 5min ago. I was doing awesome, going for a perfect combo and all of a sudden i remembered that theres a pause in this song. So through the middle of the song the pause came up and i swear to god i started to see the arrows like stretch vertically. I was like. Whoa!  For a minute, i thought i was on ecstacy. I ended up being dazed and confused, like the time on that Apple JAcks Commercial where they tell you to stare at the Apple JAcks rings behind a white screen on the TV and when they dissapeared, you saw green circles. That was crazy. But i missed my combo streak, but thats besides the point. Has anyone experienced the same arrow stretching as i have? And is this normal, or am i just a weird person? |

It's a normal optical illusion. Happens to me every time there's a pause in the song, particularly on Ecstacy.

I'm assuming you're not talking about hold arrows XD. I've never... uh... seen that before. I guess it's a trick your eyes are playing on you, you expect the arrows to scroll but when they stop it takes a second for your brain to realize they're not scrolling?  I really dislike random freezes in songs. Ecstacy it's not bad, but a song like So Fabulous So Fierce where it stops midway in the middle of the song and just jitters like that... it's so annoying. Then you have to memorize where it is. Lol. Not fun. |

Ive never noticed the arrows actually...stretch....but i really dont have a problem with songs that stop. I think its pretty cool. Makes you stop momentum and you have to get used to being able to start back. Thats why the song stoic is such a great song...it builds..and builds....to a somewhat hellacious step-step-jump combinations. Then after some 16 notes...it stops...(then starts back...but the steps are off =/) The point remains that after that stop the music returns back to its orignal almost "mellow" state..and that just adds to the complexity and i would think...fun to the song, and overall to the game.

They always stretch for me on Sakura... It freaks me out. The notes get near impossible to perfect.

Your eyes are used to seeing the arrows constantly move up. Most of the songs you see this are songs where the arrows just stop. Ecstacy is one of them.
It's almost like motion sickness. Why you would get dizzy when a car stops, stuff like that.

i have bad experiences with stops in a song. first song i played with a freeze in it, (blow my whistle baby) i fell flat on my face.....on both stops. my friend laughed his ass of. lol

Don't worry, You're not the only one. I've almost fell a couple of times due to the stops in the songs. I'll play a song, stumble over my two feet... then a couple weeks later play it again and do the same exact thing.
