Hi there I am new to this Forum! Okay let me tell you how I started to like DDR. I work at Wal-Mart here in Alice, TX and we have a game center which has one of those DDR machines. I always wanted to try it cause I saw those lil chinese girls doing it (9 years old) and they did it so perfect, but I never had time. So one day when we went shopping there I tried it out and was a total dork (sp) on it *lol*, but I think after a while I'll get the hang of it *lol*. So now I'd like to buy one and I just need suggestions on which one is best: Dance PadsI found this Forum through a magazine called "Your Diet". After I read the girls article that she had lost weight by doing this I was like Yeah I want one, I love it.

I broke my metal pad, they are good, but no pads really last.

No matter what pad you get, you are going to wear it out *eventually*. We used the Red Octane's recomended by this site at first, but they started to screw up after only a month and after three months were completly unusable. Now we use regular Konami Pads modded with plywood and plexi-glass (The K-Dogg Special) and we have been going three months and they have not even begun to wear out.

Care to post a tutorial? Particularly re: the use of the plexi. Mmmk the plexiglass is attached to the plywood under the arrows to raise them slightly, giving you a better sense of where you are on the pad. The plywood, the pad, and a plastic overlay are then held together by duct tape. I'll try and post some pics later.

Ahh! Okay, now I understand. I kept visualizing the plexi on top of the pad somehow. I don't need pics, but you can obviously still post them for others who are interested.

After 9 months of use, my Cobalt Flux is still working as well as the day I got it. It might die someday, but at its current rate of deterioration, I'm going to guess it'll take about 5 years.

Plus they have a life time warrenty. No, they have a 6 month warranty. And many people have had theirs for 1 and 1/2 years +. Very good pads. People have run over them multiple times by SUV's and trucks. Expensive, but totally worth it. Redoctane pads break too much. Just get a CF, and don't look back. You'll be so happy. I can promise you.

CFs are great... however, I find it a lot more difficult to move around fast on them, but of course, I'm no DDR master... yet...

Well..I just currently oredered a metal DDR pad. I thought about buying a flux pad..but it didnt seem that it had that many benefits..plus I like to use the bar..I know..bar raping is bad..but it supports my bad back. So i kept looking and found a site called "DDR GAME"and it seems like a nice metal pad, plus..it had a bar. Does anyone know if these pads last? I hope it does..xx

I got mine in june, broke last week. But I stomp hard when I play and always do harder songs, so you should be fine for atleast a year.

I dont like the soft pad anymore. I like my modded regular pad because I can use my shoes on it, so its at least more like the arcade.

I have a modded regular pad that I can wear with my tennis shoes, but in the end, I keep coming back to my Red Octane pad. It has been the best. I have had it for almost a year and I totally love it. I've replaced the foam inserts and it has never missed a step.

Oh yeah. They move alright.
Metal pads are difficult to get use to, but when you do, it's golden DDR playing from there on out.
...plastic pads will prepare you fine for meal pads.
