I posted a previous thread about the slipping mat.
Most of the time when I step on an arrow it does not respond or I can be not stepping on an arrow and it thinks I am. Anyone else have this problem? Do you know how to fix it?
Will taping it to a board solve this problem?

Will taping it to a board solve this problem? Possibly. What you're experiencing could be a result of wrinkles in the soft mat triggering the pressure contacts, or the mat not hitting the pressure contacts while you're playing. It's possible that some of the metal traces (which cnnect the pad arrows to the circuit board) are broken, and they can be a pain to fix. Let us know if the board mod doesn't fix the problem.

If a regular controller works in the PS2, you may have a broken ground connection. I could probably troubleshoot it myself, but it would be too difficult to explain the process here. Are the buttons totally non-responsive, or are there some sporadic points of activity?

they're just non-responsive, nothing works at all
i dont think the ps2 even reconizes it.

But a regular controller works in that port on the PS2, right?

Sounds like you've got a broken ground connection. That would cause all of the buttons to be non-responsive. If the controller isn't recognized by the PS2, the break is most likely in the cable from the PS2 to the pad. If it's just the buttons that aren't working, the broken ground is probably between the arrows and the circuit board in the little plastic trapezoid. If it's the former, I can try to troubleshoot it more specifically for you (You'd have to remove the board and cable and ship those to me). I can troubleshoot the latter as well, but shipping is more difficult for a full mat (Don't need the insert).
If you are thinking about scrapping the pad, let me know, I'd still like to get the board and cable from you if possible.
