If you have the 300 dollars or however much it is, go for the cobalt flux. I don't think it has ever died on anyone (maybe but I haven't heard). There are more expesive ones like the arcade pads they convert to ps2/usb but those are wayyyyyyyyyyy high...

I say build your own. It's not that hard, and since you know exactly how it was put together, it's easier to repair should anything go wrong with it. I haven't heard of anybody who built their own ever having problems with it, and that includes taking them to DDR competitions where you've got people banging away at 10 footers for 8 hours on end.

Building your own is a lot harder than it seems...it requires getting/cutting sheet metal and learning where link ups go...not many people have that sort of technical knowledge. While the cobalt flux is expensive, I have heard nothing but good things about it. I play DDR on my computer, so I just count that cost as not having to buy a playstation...

Well, it's harder than ordering a Cobalt Flux online, but for 1/3 the cost plus gaining a lot of useful knowledge I'd say it's worth it. We're not talking about assembling and configuring your own computer. We're talking about soldering half a dozen wires. Going to home Depot and buying a few sheets of tin and a $7 pair of tin snips (actually the metal's not even necessary, it's cosmetic only). Shoot, send me the $300 you'd send to the Cobalt Flux people and I'll build you a pad with a lifetime guarantee.

that dosnt look to hard minus the solduring part cause i dont have a soldurer or what ever how much do they cost?? A soldering Iron will run you between $7 and $25, depending on wattage, style, etc. The $7 iron should be sufficient for these purposes. If you'd rather not solder, I can sell you a pre-soldered pad, or if you have a dead soft mat, I can solder to the board from that mat for you. Soldering isn't that hard to do, though, and I personally find it to be a very useful skill.

i dont mind, i just need a good home metal pad that last longer than soft pads and maybe be able to repair and stuff. I'm not a real big fan of the arcade anyways. i only go if there's an extreme cuz there's some songs on there that i really like.
