I've gotten several AA's now but they never record because they're not the "high score". I assume the scoring is different than the grading system? What is the grading system based on if not points?
Thanks for enlightening me!

Jen,
I have notice the same think. When i ddr against my roomie sometimes she beats me with the score but I kill her with the grade level. For example I would get an A, and she would get a B, but her score is higher than mine..

JRD,
that's probably because your roomie is an exceptionallly amazing person!! lol
i think it is because of when you get your perfects. You may go through and get perfects on all the easy steps but then miss all the jumps and double steps (only get greats or something). I think you may still get an overall good grade, but cause you missed the more difficult steps (didn't get perfect) your scoring won't be as high.
Do you understand what im sayi9ng?

She's exceptional alright .. hehehehhe I guess that makes sense, but I would still think they would give me a lower grade as well,if they put that much emphasises on that. Almsot sounds as complicated as ice-skating scoring

[glow=pink,2,300]She's a woman, so she is exceptional...all women are!! lol
It is almost as complicated as figure skating, perhaps we should get some french judges in to judge us while we ddr! ;D
Maybe someone knows more about the scoring? maybe there is a site that tells about it??? [/glow]

I think I may have an answer for the score thing. Basically what it comes down to is consistency.
Say two people got AA on a song, same amount of perfects and same amount of greats...who would win?
The winner is the person who pulled off the most consecutive ratings. Let me expalin.
Even though the two people may have 145 perfects. If one player was able to pull of 45 perfects before they got a great and the other person pulled off only 41 perfects before their great, the one with 45 would pry win.
Your points increase as you get more and more perfects. Let's use the example above if the person had 45 perfects then got 2 greats in a row then went on with more perfects, their "perfect" score would start near the beginning.
Kinda see what I mean?
Sorry if tis confusing, I tend to be that way!

It depends on the number of perfects and greats you get. You can get an A on a song and get a lower score than with a person who got a B...I guess that kind of shows that the scores are more important than the grades?

The grading system is dumb :-P All that matters i think is Perfects. lol, cause like..just today i got 5 greats on Spin the Disc and only got an A cause pad's are st00pid. I say just improve on hitting more perfects and you'll improve your score and grade!

Was that on the home version, psmo? Cuz it's fudgin hard to get a AA at the arcade. I think its less than 40 greats. You can get one good, or miss 1 and still get a AA. If you miss more, it wont AA. But then again, cant the diffuculty of the machienes be adjusted like in the home version? Some must be harder or easier accordingly.

For those of you extremely curious about the grading/scoring algorithm, this is the 100% accurate system: FOR GRADES: For each step, you get a certain number of "Dance Points" Perfects get 2, Greats 1, Good 0, Boo -4, Miss -8, OK 6, NG 0 You need this percentage of total dance points to receive each grade: 100%-AAA 93%-AA 80%-A 65%-B 45%-C less-D FOR SCORING: E ach step will get you an amount of points equal to the formula: p * int(B/S) * n Where p = 10 for Perfects, 5 for Greats, 0 for everything else. B = Total score value of the song (foot rating * 10,000,000) S = number of total steps in the song n = which step you just hit (i.e. the 300th or whatever) Freeze OKs are counted the same way, but n would be one higher than the n of the step that started the freeze. There is also a bonus applied to the last step if you get a Perfect on it to even the score out to a multiple of ten million points. Jumps count as ONE STEP for both cases, they only count for two when combo is concerned. Special thanks to my friend Taren for deriving the scoring system. Now we all know that NIU math majors have nothing better to do with their time
