Went back to some oldies, and finally -- Passed Rhythm 'n Police on Heavy with a C. You can't know how long I've been waiting to be able to beat that crazy thing. I remember when I first tried it forever ago I was all "Theres no way I'm EVER going to pass this song" so I didn't play it for a looooong time. When I finally went backt o it I was like "That's it? I was so afraid at that?" Your 1337 skills are getting better ;D

Lol, I remember back when I was looking at the steps to Paranoia Rebirth on Basic and saying "yeah right, no way I'm doing that anytime soon"...
Anyway, got some new records on marathons... Far East, Caddywhompus (on normal, I can't do the stupid mods with the amount of steps on intense, plus I can barely do Pande hard normally), Around 200, and Rock Out.
...and it apparently just about finished off my left arrow on my somewhat functional pad. It stopped listening to me for a good 20 seconds.

81.10% on Do You Mine (Intense)... I'll do better later.

NOOOO... 20 seconds from the end of Liquid Moon in Energy, I died. Darn pad mines... and those crazy mods. Better than I've ever done. I never made it past the x3 section of Disconnected ~Hyper~ (I can't read that fast) 67.57% at the time I failed, btw. EDIT: Whoa, sorry for the triple post, didn't realize, heh. UPDATE: Wow, I'm pissed. Tried Energy again, and got a pad miss ON THE LAST STEP and died. I'm still counting that as a pass with a 72.xx%

Don't worry about the triple posting, its fine in threads like these; if you want you can even edit your last post if you don't want to double post. Squee. Someday I'll be able to pass these types of scores onto 9's... maybe.

FINALLY passed that darn Energy. Lower score (71.xx%) than the time I failed on the last step (figures), but at least it's done now.

HOLY SH**. I tried Determinator Expert today at the arcade (no bar) thinking I'd die immediately when those "bursts" kicked in. WRONG I made it to the very end of the death run in the middle, 1st try no bar. I think 2 more tries and I'll pass it.

Yay, my dad finished repairing our dead soft mat. We replaced the arrow sensors with pieces of wire mesh with proximity sensors, and lo and behold, the pad misses actually vanished. Already got new **'s (Torn, Land of the Rising Sun, Disconnected ~Mobius~ expert[Already had it, but it was reassuring to see it again. ]) and *'s on a few experts (The Game). There are others which I already forgot, we had to keep shutting it off when we needed to adjust sensitivity (It was having problems registering that my foot left the pad on some 32nd drills), and I forgot to save a couple times. Torn: 98.11% Incognito: 97.33% (screwed up and got 2 greats) Flying High: 97.34% Land of the Rising Sun: 98.60% Crazy: 98.07% (My pad gave me 2 greats and a way off, but it looks very ***able, maybe even ****able) Spoke to soon, my left pad is ghosting. Looks like a hard mat (homebuilt or bought, whichever) might be going on my xmas list... We'll see if we can fix it. My dad thinks there's a loose connection somewhere, when I'm done he's gonna check it out.

Yay, my dad finished repairing our dead soft mat. We replaced the arrow sensors with pieces of wire mesh with proximity sensors, and lo and behold, the pad misses actually vanished. Minor ThreadjackHow's that working out? I've been considering going that (prox/capacitance sensor) route, but I was concerned about two things: 1) Holds/standing on the mat - I know the circuit will self-adjust if you touch it too long, but I don't know if it'll be a problem overall. 2) Touching multiple sensors at the same time - Didn't know if the sensors could handle this

1) The self-adjustment is only a problem when scrolling through menus, but even then you can just lift your foot now and then to prevent it from doing so. I dunno if it times out on songs like On A Day Like Today or Don't Promise Me where there's long holds... to be safe I'd just jumped a couple times in the middle, it's no big deal. 2) Seems to be completely fine, we've got 1 chip set up for each panel and it's fine. Another thing, since we had to take out pretty much all of the original padding and sensors, he also replaced start, select, X, and O with various odds and ends (like buttons from dead CD-drives). No problems there. Not like I'm stomping on those buttons anyway. It might not work well with Extreme where you can't turn corner buttons off, as they occaisionally trigger while stepping on arrows. Oh, and my dad tested it after making more fixes, he didn't have any pad errors. It was a defective chip (the one on left randomly had bouts of massive oversensitivity, where it would sense me when I wasn't even standing on the pad). It seems like it's fine, but then people with significantly smaller feet might have issues with it. It was still a fairly cheap fix for a soft mat though, costing a few bucks for the chips, and then very minor costs through tape, wiring, and wire mesh. Didn't cost more than $15-20 I think, but then I wasn't the one buying the parts so I'm not sure. Overall... Pros... - Cheap - Simple, minimal materials needed (yes, it took me ages to finish, but that's because I come from a family of procrastinators. ) Cons... - Sensitivity adjustment is a bit tedious - It may not work well for people with significantly larger or smaller feet Oh, one more thing. Hands in ITG are a little harder to do. I have to hit with my whole palm rather than just my finger tips, but that's no big deal. Minor Threadjack Over (?)

Pulled an 83.83% outta nowhere for The Beginning (3% improvment, and first time I've played that song in a month). 16 misses though, 15 of which were due to fatigue on the ending runs (crossovers = vicious)
98.64% on ROM-eo & Juli8. I hit that same mine I always hit... Will tri-star soon (and it'll be my first tri-star if I do)

Psh, good luck to me. My pad's dead again. Left's completely spazzing on me. I'll nag my dad to fix the pad... if he does maybe I can get it today.
