Nice, is it turned-based, or more of a free-roam KH deal?

Think I found a glitch. Skipping the cutscene of Zalera's entrance into the room made him a lot easier. He didn't brace or summon at all, just alternated attacks and kill.

I'm like.. 30-ish hours into this game. I'm just past the place after the SandSea.
I have beaten FFI, II, IV, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 and I plan to add this to my list. Great series, my favorite by far =)

For some reason I am thinking either airships or the special shop.

Well, I'm pretty much done with the game... I've got about 4 hunts left, Vaan, Balthier, and Penelo are all 70+ (so killing Hell Wyrm and Yiazmat shouldn't be too bad... and the final boss is gonna be a piece of cake), got all espers except Zodiark...
You know, honestly the game felt a little short to me. And no, I'm not gonna play it again just to get that stupid Zodiac Spear. The older FF's were way better anyway.
Anyway, now that I've pretty much finished the game, I feel more comfortable about making a final overall decision on it.
IMO, FFXII could have been great if it weren't for...
- The absolutely ridiculous treasure chest system (come on, I managed to get to the chest, don't make me run 3 zones away and back constantly just to get it to spawn or save and reload constantly to get the actually good item)
- Some of the rare game. A lot requires sheer luck and guess work to figure out (I looked one up which I'd found randomly when I'd never seen it before... it turned out I needed to be passing through the area when the minute counter was between 45 and 50...)
- The previously mentioned Zodiac Spear (which requires not opening 4 specific chests, with no clue given in-game as to the identity of the chests so that you HAVE to look it up online) was something that really made me want to punch a programmer in the face.
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it was an excellent game brought down a few notches by a couple frustrating design flaws. I loved the redesigned battle system, I liked the hunt system, and I liked a bunch of other little things about it. I just like some of the other FF's better is all.

Yeah, I agree with you on those points. I stopped comparing all of the FF's to my favorite (FF6 was the best) a long time ago.
Some things just can't be topped.

Well after a little extra looking around, there's apparently another way to get a zodiac spear... but then that falls into the problem of it being a case of an absolutely sadistic treasure chest setup. The other Zodiac Spear is in the rear entrance of Henne Mines. There's a 10% chance of the chest spawning, with a 1% chance of the spear being inside.
...that's a .1% or 1/1000 chance of getting it.
