Hello, digitalmint here, you can call me Alex.
5'9'' about 300 lbs. I've always been overweight or obese my entire life, but I was at my skinniest (240) when I was playing DDR in high school, although infrequently. I also played varsity tennis and in my senior year I fractured both my ankles in a freak accident. Since then I've never been the same, walking more than a block inflames the tendons in my ankles, and anything I could do for exercise hurts so much I really can't do it. I haven't played DDR in 4 years.
Since then I ballooned to 335, but then took charge and changed my diet, dropping down to 275, riding a bike every day to work since it didn't hurt my ankles. Then I began putting it back on when I was layed off. Currently around 300. Found this site yesterday and was in total aw of what Matt Keene did.
Last week, I grabbed my old PS2/DDR Max/DDR Max 2/Ignition Pad out of storage and gave it a try. My ankles didn't hurt at all! I suppose there was enough padding. I played for over an hour a day, MWF. I just signed up for a gym membership, and my neighbor who is already a body builder, has agreed to go with me to show me how to properly do everything.
I've somewhat changed my diet, no fast food, sometimes a pizza once a week, mainly foods like rice, oatmeal, fruits, vegetables, etc. I don't have too much money after being layed off (looking for a new job currently as well.)
Yesterday I did DDR for two hours (light and standard so I don't hurt myself, jumping back into after a 4 year lull) one hour in the morning, one in the later afternoon. I felt PUMPED. And writing this the morning after, yes, my ankles are a little sore, but nothing like they would have been if I tried to walk for two hours - they would have been killing me.
My plan is to play DDR 2 hours a day, split between the day, every day, go to the gym to weight train 3 days a week (that's what my friend said is healthy so you don't hurt yourself by pulling a muscles,) and watch what I eat.
Here's my question:
What EXACTLY did Matt Keene do? The general outline is on the Stories page, but I want to know exact details. How many feet were his light and standard songs. Did he do 3 hours EVERY SINGLE day? Was it all in one sitting or split up in the day? What was his diet like? My athletic friend said cutting down to 1500 calories while exercising that much is EXTREMELY unhealthy. What was his weight training schedule - 3 days a week? Did he use normal mode or workout mode?
I admit I'm an extremely sedentary person. I figure if I can manage to exercise that much every week, there is no way I CAN'T lose weight.
